Half Day Off

Yesterday I took a half day off and played a round of golf with some coworkers.

Above, note the equipment. The finest irons on the generic market of 1988. The best $19.95 driver and 3 wood Sam’s had in 1991, and a wonderful $7.50 Walmart putter from 1992. Nothing but the best for me. Sweetie got me the golf bag a few years ago, its the best item of equipment I have, next to my lucky SpongeBob SquarePants golf balls.

BTW – I still love that license plate!

My coworkers. We had a great time.

The weather was warm, humid, and sunny. Wonderful.
Signature hole. I wonder if they would let me hide a geocache there?

We played some golf, we drank some malted beverages, a couple of us made some great shots, some of us made some horrible shots, but we all had a great time.

How did I do? What do you mean? I played golf during working hours so I did great!

Oh, you mean what was my score?

OK, I shot a 64 – pretty good uh?

and

a 62 on the back 9!

I’ve been reading you for awhile, and I have to say, I do enjoy how laid back and not superficial you are. The golf clubs are hilarious. What, no Titleist-elitism?

Looks like you played LaFortune. I was there yesterday afternoon as well after work. I hadn’t played the course in years. I shot a 45 on the front 9. Stupid 8 on one of the par 4s ruined my score. I birdied the last whole, so that kind of made up for it.

I almost had to remove you from my blog roll for posting on golf.
It was the WalMart clubs that saved you.
Nothing says serious golfer like finding bargain clubs at the local WM.
The next month of my life is about to be ruined by golf. No bitterness here.

@Jen – I think titleist is golf balls. I think. If they are not in the bargain bin at Academy I wouldn’t know.

@Trait – Yep – Lafortune. When did they revamp the course. I hadn’t played on it since. I was very impressed with things. The rain has messed up the fairways though.

@Baloney – Queen B, chill. Get some sticks yourself and some lessons – go for it. Women golfers have lots of fun. I’ll even donate some lucky SpongeBob SquarePants golf balls.

LMBO glad to see your still sporting that license plate with pride. Never played golf or watched it so wouldnt have the foggiest ideal what your score means. =) Glad you had fun though.

Yogi, there is good reason for me not to golf. In fact, more than one good reason.
    1. it’s expensive
    2. it takes a ton of time which also becomes expensive to pay for the babysitting
    3. 2 titanium rods and a fused spine – golf and my back don’t mix

    so there.

@Baloney – You are full of piss and vinegar today!
    1. Golf doesn’t have to be expensive if you play at public courses.
    2. Hell Yeah it takes time, you don’t have to do it all the time. As far as the cost – how come Doc’s Babysitting is free and yours isn’t?
    3. Two titanium rods and a fused spine. You are already at the top of golf technology! Titanium, fusion, wow!!! Doc is married to the bionic golf wife.

I think they redid the course a couple years ago. It’s been about 10 years since I’d played there, so your guess is as good as mine. I could probably look it up, but I’m much too lazy for that. Agree with you about the fairways. If they get them in good shape, the course will be much more fun to play.

  9. Baloney

Why don’t you ask the DOC why his babysitting is free and mine isn’t? That’s a great question.

But really… one day swinging means at least 3 days a-hurtin’. That was 10 years ago and I’m not getting any younger. Golf=pain

@Baloney – The only thing I’m asking the Doc is how his new driver is and how the wife and kids are doing.

I get it, you not biomechanically able to golf. We’ll have to figure out some other sport for you besides kicking everybody’s butt on the Facebook games.
