Skywatch Friday – Oklahoma Edition

The storms have been rolling through northeast Oklahoma yesterday and today. Scary skies followed by cool, clean, dry air. The bonus is no tornadoes out of these storms, yet.

Below is yesterday afternoon, from my office window about an hour before I left work to go for a run on the Arkansas River. Pretty scary uh? If you click on the picture you can spot the sun’s disk.

This is a little more than an hour later about 20 minutes into my run. All nice and sunny. ( I love crepe myrtles.)
Below is about a half hour later. Perfect weather for running.

This is on the drive home. I pulled off into a parking lot.

This morning, it started all over again. Storms and then rapid clearing. I had to run out of the building at 10:30 this morning to get this picture. The storm is moving roughly right to left. Dark skies, heavy rain, followed by nice cool air following.

It is supposed to be way over 100 degrees on Saturday. Coming to Oklahoma for a visit?
For great views of our skies from everywhere check out Skywatch Friday.

What marvelous shots! Scary, beautiful, breathtaking! I’ve seen skies like those growing up in Texas and just hoping they weren’t hiding a tornado! Have a great weekend!

Amazing skies. I am glad you always (?) carry your camera. I didn’t have mine a few nights ago when we drove the the scariest storm I have EVER been in in west Texas. Now I have new camera rules, one of which is Always Carry.

Thank you for sharing and stay safe from those tornadoes.

The first photo looks angry, but the rest are gorgeous. I especially like the last one – the clouds look like they have magic in them.
I had to laugh about your comment re: getting a portable electric fence for your cubicle!

    Great series.
Various weather and changes, through your day.
I long for some rain right now….
Here in the Western part of Norway we have had some HOT days the last month.
I would love to feel the cool and clean air again – just the way you describe it.

    Have a wonderful weekend! πŸ™‚

Wow, look at those clouds! I enjoyed seeing the sky at different times of the day. I think the first and last are my favorite photos.

Thanks for you nice comment on my blog.

Your weather is schizo, too! Good. We are not alone on this sinking ship. What a sky. That first one makes me think I am looking from the bottom of a pot of boiling water.

I will be down your way when I am ready to bake a cake in the open air.

That’s a wonderful Mackeral cloud formation in the first shot, gorgeous. I also adore Crepe Myrtle and have planted many since arriving here. Great post πŸ™‚

Wonderful images Yogi, very dramatic changes. Love Crepe Myrtle too. We already had two large ones when we moved here. Always look forward to their blooming. Have a great weekend.

We have been having lots of rain and clouds here in new England. I don’t think I’d like the 100 degree’s but I could use a bit more warmth up here.

They look like they could be mammatus clouds in the first shot, which is my absolute favorite cloud structure. Marvelous. Stay cool.

The skies in that first photo and the last one are very dramatic…

Very cool photos of ever changing skies. πŸ™‚

I’m so glad we don’t get tornados. I’d rather deal with the earthquakes, so few that we really get. Great shots. The clouds in that last shot are something else and I love the silver linings to them.
