Eclipse – The Movie

The other day Sweetie and I loaded up and went off to see Eclipse. I was smart this time. I didn’t read the book! The second book in the series was one of the most excrutiatingly bad books I have ever read. I mean it had its moments but I almost missed them because of hundreds of pages of brooding and moping. Magically, the movie, covered those hundreds of page in literally five seconds. Oh the magic of film!

This movie starts out pretty good. There is a slaughter going on in Seattle. Somebody is killing off lots and lots of ordinary citizens. The good vampires of Forks are concerned about it but don’t quite know what to do.

While they are concerned the mopestress Bella is mooning and moping over Edward. She is at the same time teasing poor old Jacob, or he is teasing her or I don’t know what is going on. Edward finally asks Bella, “Doesn’t he have a shirt?” Meanwhile Bella is trying to seduce Edward. He finally has to say, “Bella, would you please stop trying to take your clothes off?” So I think the real romantic story in the movie is Edward and Jacob. Yep, you read it here first. But I’m not going to spoil it for you, go see the movie yourself and tell me what you think.

I mean really, why is Edward wasting his time on teen age moper doper Bella, when he could have a woman.

Yeah, Victoria. You know Bella got her boyfriend killed so Edward would just have to hand over little miss useless to Victoria and she would be forever grateful. I think Victoria is a million times hotter than Bella. What do you think? C’mon Edward wake up, scrape Bella off, she is no good for you.

And Bella, what’s wrong with Jacob? At least he is alive and better looking. Plus Bella, what are you doing proclaiming passionate love for Edward but then cuddling up to Jacob every chance to get and then acting shocked when he thinks you like him. Oh, I just plain don’t get it. You know they should have let Tom Clancy write the screenplay. He knows whats what. Know something else, Sharon Stone would make a great Bella. She put a little oomph in the role.

But hey, there is lots of action in the movie to save it from the lame romantic parts. The best part is a vampire amphibious invasion that would have made General Douglas MacArthur proud. A few of these guys and the WWII would have been over a lot sooner. After the invasion there is some great vampire/werewolf battle scenes. They’ll make you want to go see the Lord of the Rings trilogy again.

The movie is not too bad. I give it three stars out of four.

Hey, can anybody tell me if the book is any good or is it a waste of time. I need to know.

Can’t wait to see the movie. I agree about the 2nd book. The next one is better but…well, the last one was a bit slow too but it was better. Sometimes I think the first ones are always better.

    Laughed thru your movie review.

Today, I have a date to see skinny, sparkling Edward, Mopey Bella, and a young hunk of muscle, Jacob.

The best part will be my date, my son Logan.

Thank YOU!!! I thought I was the only one who just wants to smack the poo out of Bella and her mopey, teenage angst-y self. Ugh–can’t stand her!!! But I do love me some Edward–sorry, just purely for eye candy sake–he’s like 50 years younger than I am. I can’t wait to go see the movie. I just wish there was a different Bella.

That was one thing that drove me crazy about the books. I couldn’t stand Bella in the 2nd and 3rd book. The 3rd book was better than the second book.

Seems like you don’t really like the Twilight Saga. Oh well, I love this Eclipse movie better than the other two. And yes, Bella is quite “selfish”! I would have chosen Jacob if I were her.

I can’t say any about the book. I am a no-no to books. I’d rather watch it than read it.

I agree with you about Bella. The moping in the second book was pretty bad.

The third book is my favorite.

I seriously with they would have chosen someone else to play Edward. Rob Pattinson makes my skin crawl. He is so not the Edward in my mind when I read the books.

I wasn’t sure about Taylor playing Jacob, at least in the first two movies. But, he shines in this one.

There was all over better acting this time around. I guess with a bigger budget comes some acting classes. Ha!

I can’t wait to see it again. I loved it!

I personally liked the books much better than the movies but it’s fun watching them come to life on a movie screen.

I think Eclipse is the best of the 3 movies so far. It will be interesting to see how they make the next 2 movies for the 4th book. And then there’s the rumor that they’re thinking of making a movie from “The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner.” Not sure how they’ll manage that one as the book is only 178 pages long.

I have friends that loved Eclipse and others who hated it. To each his own though.

Maybe the book “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” would be more to your liking. I haven’t personally read it by my son has and he loved it. It’s on my To-Do list.

Oh, and by the way – I’m definitely Team Edward.

I liked the first book. The second and third spent a lot of pages on moping, I thought. Way too many pages.
I liked Jacob better than Edward, too. Being alive is good.

    Hmmm.
Edward in the book is a whole different guy in my mind. And Bella is unimpressive on and off screen.
I never understood what Edward saw in Bella either? I mean, really… why not me instead?
