Vibrational Sound Massage

We went to a street festival here in Tulsa last week. It wasn’t very big but it was cool. The artists had all sorts of different and interesting pieces for sale. There was a band that had kind of a never ending riff going on. It reminded me of the late 1960’s in New Mexico except people were drinking bud light and chai instead of smoking stuff they shouldn’t be smoking. In fact the only smoking going on was some mesquite in a Chiminea.

Somebody had set up a “Vibrational Sound Massage” booth. You sat on a pillow in the middle of several large gongs with a mask over your eyes. Then you chilled out while the guys and gals manning the booth played (as opposed to beating) the gongs. The gongs were cool. They hit them lightly with a cushioned mallet and the sound just went on forever. I loved listening to them.

They didn’t charge anything nor take tips. It was their gift to the people.

I heard that was coming but we didn’t make it down there. Thanks for the report. Not to make you jealous or anything but Sue and I saw Elton John and Leon Russell perform at the BOK Center last night. They went 3 1/2 hours non-stop. Awesome!

I would have dug it. 😉 I love a hippie vibe, as I am a hippie chick at heart!

We had a audial art experience this weekend, too. There these “music boxes” set up in the park downtown that were solar powered and each made a note that altogether sounded very meditative, like hollow church bells. I’ll post the photo one of these days. I should have filmed to get the sound but I don’t know how to set that up on my newish camera, yet.

I’m all for unique experiences, but I wonder if the eyes are the right thing to cover. Ear shields might be good, too, even for relatively soft bonging.
