Sepia Snow

Sepia Penguin

We had our first snow of the year yesterday. I was hoping that we could have a snowless year. At least it wasn’t too bad. I decided to check on the downtown fowl. The above is our courthouse plaza penguin.

Sepia Turkeys

Above is our library turkeys. The window in the background is where I sit to use the library’s wifi at lunch. When its not taken up by my homeless peeps. Then I sit somewhere else.

Sepia Pigeon

This is my sepia pigeon. Pigeon’s are funny critters. If they think you are going to feed them they come right up and look at you. As soon as you pull a camera out they scatter.

Sepie Downtown

For your reference, here is a key to where I took all the photos. You can tell when its cold outside I don’t mess around.

You’re so organized!! Love your sepia shots! Glad it’s your snow and not mine! I would say hee hee hee, but as sure as I did, it would snow here tomorrow like they’re predicting. Enjoy the rest of your day, stay warm!!

Your office view is pretty awesome. I totally appreciated the key and helpful arrows. I’m just gonna say it….I’m not a big fan of sepia. I always try it out on my camera but I delete it because I don’t like it. I don’t know why. I blame it on my mom. Not for any particular reason…but she’s my go-to blamer if I can’t explain why I don’t like something.

Cold. Snow. Cold snow. Connecticut? Nooooo… Way over there. This year’s snow fall makes me think of Joyce’s Dubliners, in which, in the end, the snow unites everybody by being the blanket that tucks us in. Except that it’s cold.

Your birds are gorgeous. I’ve got to get my hiking boots out, get me a raft, cross that unruly Hudson, and see what’s on the other side. Your photos are an invitation West. Beautiful stuff.

    Sleep well, snow-covered friend.

I actually like one or two snow falls each year. Something in the 4-6 inch range is more than adequate. Somehow, I just don’t feel like we’ve had winter unless there has been at least a couple of blankets of white. These single digit temperatures are a different story though.

The avian statues are neat, I am partial to the penguin. It is nice to see this bird out of his customary tuxedo – a bird like this can’t be formal always. Cool city plazas, although much nicer in the warm seasons…

Nice snow shots, and I like the map.

Sepia or black and white works well when the picture is close to monochromatic anyway, snow scenes being a great example. Another example is when the color detracts from the center of interest, like my running dog in my post today. I find that when I convert digital color to monochrome I need to punch up the contrast a little. That’s my 2 cents worth anyway.

    Pick a day for lunch.
