Mayo Hotel Skywatch

Mayo Hotel in a Storm
(Pardon the blur and the reflections)

The Mayo Hotel is right next door to my office building to the north. A few weeks ago a storm blew through town and made it dark as night in the middle of the day. Their neon light came on it got so dark.

The storm looked mean and wet but blew through without a drop. All I have to show for it is this photograph.

I would call that a lowering sky.
Bill took a “lowering sky” picture some time back but hadn’t come across the adjective before. I wonder if you know what I mean?
I’m so glad you always seem to carry a camera:-)

Fantastic shot and an amazing one at that!! Oklahoma and the rest of the country has had such unbelievable weather this year — ours has been just as unusual and the chilliest spring/early summer on record!! You’d think we lived in different parts of the world rather than the same country!! Happy SWF! Hope you have a great weekend! Stay cool — literally!

Wow, that sky looks menacing. Just from what I can see of the Mayo, it looks like quite a fancy hotel. I wonder can anyone see that neon sign from below.

this thumbnail caught my eye instantly. I LOVE the drama here and the edge of the storm cloud just above the horizon. too bad you didn’t get rain, but this must have been a fantastic show. happy SWF Yogi.

Great shot. Very dramatic. Your office gives you a vantage point for some great photos. I would cry foul but I enjoy them too much. Have a great weekend.

Wow, that is a dark sky. Nice capture of the glowing light. I agree with Barb, it does look a little apocolyptic.
