We always have a two minutes’ silence at 11.00a.m. on the eleventh day of the eleventh month.
Shops and businesses, tv and radio fall silent – it’s very poignant.

On Sunday the Queen, royal family and members of the clergy and cabinetlay their wreaths at the Cenotaph. No pomp and ceremony, more quiet reflection over here.

How good you have so many photographic memories.

So sad about the 400,00 veterans who experience homelessness in the course of a year. I’m afraid we have the same problem in Canada. We allow them to risk their lives for us and then we abandon those who cannot cope when they return. Shame on us!

The 400,000 veterans experiencing homelessness in the course of a year is heartbreaking! We owe them so much and, yes, shame on us! A very moving, inspiring and heartbreaking post for the day! Thank you!

Wow! That’s a lot of family members that we need to thank for fighting for us. That’s awesome!

I only had 2 grandfathers and ONE cousin. =/

    Great post!

    Have a great weekend!

Wow! Very nice post. Where did you get all those old photos? I think it’s great you shared them. I have no idea who our great grandfather James is.
