Scavenger Hunt Sunday – Walking to Anything

Time again for Scavenger Hunt Sunday so lets get started.

Walking

This is a picture of me competing in a trail race. Something must be wrong because what I remember is head down and running hard and breathing hard running up a steep mountain slope. This is a picture of a fat guy on a walk to get a donut. What’s the deal you ask. I don’t know. By the way I’m obviously cheating with this shot. It was actually taken by blogging, running, geocaching friend Trail Zombie. Thanks a lot TZ. Ashley, pleeeeeze don’t kick me out of SHS, I promise that one of these days I’ll follow the rules. It’s only on days that end in Y that I cheat, but I’m trying to do better.

Yummy to my Tummy

My wife Sweetie is a fabulous cook. This is her version of the the Pioneer Woman’s Scrumptious Apple Pie.  I think we need to have a throwdown of Sweetie and the Pioneer Woman. My money is on Sweetie.

Favorite Toy

14_12A

No although these women are attractive they are not my favorite toys. My favorite toys are cameras. And know something else, I don’t take too many pictures of cameras, I’m too busy using them. I took this shot while running the Route 66 Half Marathon in Tulsa last year. I posted it on Facebook and it went somewhat viral with several hundred likes. I used a recyclable camera cuz I tend to get fumblefingers and drop things when I run. Now I got a military spec gps enabled Nikon that I use on races.

What I did this week

trash

My original photo was a picture of 17 drilling rigs making drilling horizontal wells into the Cana Woodford Shale in central Oklahoma cuz I went to a conference that talked about the Cana among other things. But, the main thing I did was pack up my cubicle and move into an office. The first office I’ve had in 21 years and 11 years since I last moved my workspace. I had an incredible amount of crap. Old coffee cups and notebooks and office gewgaws. I filled up two of our office shredder boxes with all the paper we have and stuffed a bunch more into our big office shredder box. I had a bunch of stuff that I was going to recycle but it is incredibly difficult in our office so I just attached the bright “trash” tags and kissed all the crap goodbye. Don’t you judge me!

Anything

I now know that you can get anything you want in Seattle

This just proves that you can find anything for sale. I have no idea what Spotted Dick is and I have desire to find out. Ashley, its all your fault. You are the one that said “Anything” not me.

Funny Yogi – as always, a fascinating insight into your life and legs!! Two comments, both regarding food. The first, although it looked delicious, I didn’t recognise that pie as being apple, we tend to have pastry crust on ours. You HAVE to try the spotted dick pudding – they’re fabulous with a lovely custard. My husband used to love them – what I would call a “boy’s pudding”. They consist of a sultana-filled sponge pudding but I think the powers-that-be have taken exception to the name over here so the Lord only knows what they’re called now.

This has to be your funniest hunt ever. Each prompt had me laughing harder than the one before. I could barely contain myself by the time I got to Anything.

Well it is official – either you are crazy or I am – maybe both, because I’m sitting here laughing like a kid at all of these. I definitely vote ‘throw down’ just because I like how it sounds (and yea, I do know what they mean – but seriously, wouldn’t it be fun if it were literal); and nearing 10 years since I worked outside the home I still have boxes of stuff from my office in the garage. I don’t judge, nor do I throw rocks at glass houses— then again, none of my family stands near me in the event lightening strikes. hummm!
Favorite though is the marathon signs. Forest ain’t got nothing on you – I’m pretty sure this one was specifically for you.

Thanks for a most enjoyable visit. Now go and enjoy some of Sweetie’s good cooking. 🙂

Oh my gosh! you get the weekly honor of making me laugh outloud & share your post with my hubs!!! doesn’t happen that often. So, I think you need to purchase a can of “spotted dick” & open it up & put it on a plate & offer a critic of this product!! please!!!

In that first picture, it looks like you’re the running leader. I admire your dedication to bringing a camera during your race other than the one on your phone. I have never heard of Spotted Dick either. It must be European. I’ll check my grocery shelf next time for it.

  6. Janie

You’re head of the pack in the running photo. That’s impressive! Of course, maybe your friend just cut out the leaders, but that’s okay, too.
Sweetie’s pie looks great. I’d like to have a slice.

There is totally no way that the host is going to kick you off that Scavenger Hunt meme, because all the readers who are still rolling on the floor would protest loudly!

Spotted Dick is some kind of English dessert. We actually saw it on menus when we were in London, but we didn’t try it, because who could actually order it. (Most of the good restaurants we ate at there were Indian.)

Oh my goodness what a funny set you provided. You did a great job but that last one takes the cake (or pudding) in this case!

Everyone needs to move now and then just to get rid of all the stuff we don’t need.

The pie looks so good. I bet I’m too late to ask you to share it, right?
