Our World – Kayaking on Cotton Bayou

On our recent trip to Orange Beach, Alabama we went on a little kayaking expedition on Cotton Bayou.

We picked out the kayaks, got life vests, paddles and a map and off we went.

SuperPizzaBoy really took to it and did very well.

He left the old man in the dust, so to speak.

Sweetie was looking good also. She always looks good, kayak or not.

The bayou was busy. We got attached by a pirate boat. The pirates were all yealling “ARGH!!!” but we got away.

Or maybe they are the ones that got away?

For some reason Sweetie had the map. How did she get the map. I’m supposed to have the map. That way I can be telling her stuff, not she tellling me stuff. Do you like the thumb action in the photo?

We pulled up on a deserted island for a lunch of peanut butter sandwhiches.

And here’s a YogiCam view of the return trip. Tell you what my quads were burning after this trek but we had fun.

Kudos to all three of you. I haven’t kayaked much, but enough to know that it is pretty hard work. Good job chasing off that pirate ship.

I’ve only kayaked a few times but loved it. I especially liked when we had a double and my husband did most of the work. It’s my arms that ache afterwards. Great distance shot in the last one!

Looks like fun…I’ve never tried kayaking. Of course Sweetie has the map, you men won’t ever stop and ask for directions.

That looks like a busy waterway for little kayaks, but I guess you three do make a formidable team. I’ve spent lots more time in a canoe. But don’t think my shoulders could take the paddling any more.

    (Still looking for that Sherpa;)

What lovely photos of the bay and of your family.

Women are always supposed to have the maps as the men never ask for directions, right?

I wish I was more confident with kyaking. I have only done it a few times, and we have talked about taking kyaks on our camping trips so we can explore water ways.
Have a wonderful week. I am linking up to you through Our WOrld Tuesday.

I am so jealous. I love kayaking. You have such a different view of things and it is great fun. Wish I could have joined you.
