Almost Wordless Wednesday – Night Geocaching

I was at a Geocaching Campout put on by the Tulsa Area Geocachers recently. A bunch of temporary caches are hidden by the participants for other people to go find.

One of the most popular caches are the night caches. They are fun. You go out in the woods to the coordinates and then you start looking for something that glows or reflects a flashlight and off you go following the trail. You get spider webs in your face and tend to trip a lot and scare mysterious critters as you stumble and bumble through the woods.

So what’s the point you ask? The point is following the paths to the end and enjoying the journey. I mean without twisting your ankle too bad or getting lost out in some woods where there is no cell phone reception. Best to have spare batteries for everything, flashlight, GPS receiver.

Have you ever had as much fun as this?

Not Quite Wordless Wednesday

This is the Federal Bankruptcy Court in Tulsa. The mottled shadows are because of a building across the street reflecting light on it. I have taken a bunch of pictures of this building but I’m being told by some of my Instagram buds that they have been hassled by security guards coming out and telling them that they can’t take pictures of it. I’ve been doing it for years. So if I disappear one day maybe I’ve been subject to extraordinary rendition to some foreign country by the Feds. I don’t know if I’ll have wifi there or not.

Come on kids, get in the bus, find a seat and sit down! Lets get this show on the road.

I have a thing for arches. Don’t ask why. I just like passageways of all kinds.

I also have a thing for Mid-Century Modern design. This is at Tulsa’s Woodward Park and is almost completely forgotten, ignored, and not maintained. I think it is a graceful structure. I especially like the large concrete canopy over the courtyard. Lots of shade and you should be safe there in even the worst of hail storms. I’m sure that one day I’ll show up and it’ll be gone.

How about you, what have you been up to?

Wordless Wednesday (Almost) – Air Travel

Harris Effect 1 - Idaho Falls Airport

Amusing myself with the Harris Effect App on my Ipod Touch at the Idaho Falls Airport

Harris Effect II

More amusement – sometimes I wonder who I amuse.

Harris Effect 3

You can tell the people from Idaho.

Gate Check Blues

Waiting in the jet way for the gate checked luggage. People always seem a little tired and worn waiting for their gate checked luggage. I am always happy that I didn’t have to manhandle it into an overhead bin nor pay $40 bucks to have it checked through. You play your cards right they will check it through from the podium for free.

Cocoa Mole Porter at Denver Airport

The pause that refreshes. The New Belgium Cafe at the Denver airport has a most excellent Cocoa Mole Porter on tap.

Mostly Wordless Wednesday – AppMania Edition

Logan mowing and Matter App

A benefit of having a bad knee. Logan mowing and me using my Matter App to embellish things a bit. Logan does a great job mowing but he did it Frank Sinatra style (his way). So we ended up with crop circles on our yard. I’m not complaining though.

White Tail Deer at Oxley

A white tail deer giving me the stink eye at Oxley Nature Center.

Heather's Knockout Roses - Analogue App

Heather’s knockout roses using the Waterlogue App on my ipod.

Heather's Knockout Roses

Knockout roses using the ToonCamera App on my ipod. I love to tinker with photos a lot.

A Soul at 60,000 miles

Speaking of Apps I’m liking Hipstamatic’s update. And continuing with red All is Well With My Soul. at 60,000 miles!

I guess he ran out of paint. Or maybe he got ran out.

It is amazing, if you look closely, how many people sleep outside in and around downtown.
