Last week SuperPizzaBoy and I snuck out to the Fairgrounds for the Car Show. There is nothing shinier than new cars under lights.
There is something about a nice two toned paint job that is really nice. They had the class two tones.
And the cute two tones.
And the utilitarian version
And the family values version
(I really like the coral color)
They even had two tone cars for a mid life crisis
Or this
Do you suppose that this Corvair pickup is unsafe at any speed?
(I didn’t even know that they made Corvair pickups.)
And how about this for cool?
Oh, and they had a bunch of shiny new cars at show with friendly salesman and models in short skirts, high heels, and big smiles. These old cars didn’t have any of that, they had old guys with lawn chairs.
Do you want to hear something really scary? I REMEMBER some of those! 😉
New cars??? they seem pretty old fasioned to me… but pretty and shiny
YES!
Thanks for sharing

Nice cars! 🙂
Give me the lawn chair dudes and a white and aqua version of the Ford pickup or the wagon.
Hopefully the electric problem is solved. 2 more days in S TX. 😉
They are all just wonderful! The coral and white one reminds me of a car my aunt and uncle had when I was a kid.
When they had colors that stood the test of time. You had to wash and wax them like crazy, but they were great colors.
I didn’t know there was a corvair truck either.
Give me the pick up and the 55.

OOOO! I love gorgeous classic cars! Fantastic pics…I think I’d look best in one of the red rides! 😉
Aren’t these beauties, I remember when many of these were new. Never saw the corvair pickup though my brother had a corvair sedan.
The first one, that was a little before my time. I think my dad’s first car was a modle “T”, the back seat was a rumble seat, I’ve seen pictures of it.
Old car nut «Louis» really enjoyed this!
BTW – «Louis» lived in Oklahoma City in the early ’70s and has been to Tulsa quite a number of times.
Well, I hate to call them “old” cars because except for the first one, I remember them all and that’s scary!! Looks like a fun day — did you spend more time with the old or the new cars???? Hope your weekend is off to a great start! Enjoy!
Sylvia
If I would buy one, it would be the first one -beautiful! Used to live in a neighborhood where several neighbors had this hobby of restoring cars like these -pleasant memories!
I remember all those great cars! Thanks for sharing your great day.
AH! The good ole days. :))
Who knew that Corvair had a pickup! My best friend got a corvair convertible when she turned 16… so cool!
(I lived in Bartlesville when I was 4yrs old)
Great reflections and cars… Too bad you can’t get a Honda in any of those colors – hah!
Bises,
G
All bright new and shining.
Great series.
Great shots of some lovely classics!
Was it simply tactful that you showed “lawn chair”, rather than “model” cars? I like the old cars but, there again, I’d also prefer the lawn chair guys 🙂
How fun! That Ford pickup reminds me of the one my great-grandfather drove. It was still working when I was a kid but then it became a yard ornament because none of us could part with it.
I think a cousin finally bought it from our family to fix it up.
Look like it was an awesome show. Wish I could have been there. I especially loved the little Metropolitan. I was driving a black and white two tone Metropolitan when I graduated from high school
An Arkies Musings
Nice set of shiny cars… Very thoughful of you to share it with us !
Those two-tones are really cool, but I rather like the green one fit for a mid-life crisis. I’m ready.
