Luke 1:38

R1-01970-0003_0001

“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.

Mary said this after an angel appeared to her at a well and told her:

“You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”

34 “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”

35 The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called[b] the Son of God. 36 Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. 37 For no word from God will ever fail.” “

Mary was an incredible young woman who had to grow up quickly. She received the astounding news from an angel and scarcely batted an eye. What was it like to bear Jesus, and then later see him die on a cross? What a servant she was.

This is one of the most beautiful stories in the Bible. And what a beautiful photo to go with it. Thanks for dropping by my nook. I appreciate it.

Wow, great double exposure photo. It looks like there has been a Virgin Mary sighting at the church.
Mary was an incredible person, and a wonderful example of motherhood for the rest of mankind.

Wonderful photo, Yogi! I really need to look into purchasing a decent camera soon!

And I agree … Mary was an incredible young woman! I doubt that I could have been equally brave and surrendered!
