Skywatch Friday – From All Over Town

Moon IMG_2284-Edit

The sky was clear and the moon was bright so I took a photo of it. Don’t forget this Friday we have a full blood moon coming up. This was about 86% gibbous phase. I don’t always get them but I love it when I can see the craters on the “bottom” of the moon.

And here we are in the ‘hood. I loved the clouds one day when I was on the front porch. I guess sometimes I am a lazy skywatcher. While we are in a sharing mood, I took the photo of the moon from my front yard as well. Do you have any true confessions you want to share?

And this is my favorite building in Tulsa. The Boston Avenue United Methodist Church. An art deco masterpiece built in the late 1920’s and designed by Bruce Goff and Adah Robinson. The interior is beautiful also. It was our family church when we first moved to Tulsa.

And this is from Oxley Nature Center. I love how the island appears to be suspended in air. (Okay maybe I’m stretching it a little bit.)

Okay, that’s it for this week. Don’t forget the full moon on Friday. Take some photos for me. I’m going to be at a baseball game so I am depending on you.

    Very nice “moon shot”.
I love Tulsa’s rich collection of Art Deco architecture. I am awfully fond of the Fairgrounds Pavillion, but since my dad worked for the Fisco railroad, I have to give my nod to the Union Depot as my favorite building. It’s cutting edge “Machine Age” deco was spectacular in its day. When the concourse was in place, over the tracks, it was quite the imposing structure. Have a blessed week.

Those are two really good examples of Art Deco. I love the details on the train station especially the train wheels with wings. I would add the Will Rogers High School (I think that is the name of it.)

Hello, pretty view of the moon. Your sky images and reflection photos are beautiful. Happy Thursday, enjoy your day and the weekend ahead!

Love the first and last shots – spectacular! And I don’t think it’s a stretch to say it looks suspended – VERY nice reflection shot!!!

The church architecture is magnificent! Beautiful photo of the nature center. If you can get decent shots from your front yard without having to drive all over, that’s a good thing!!

Love the beautiful gibbous Moon and the blue skies and especially the way you captured the island “suspended on the air”! Not sure if I can stay up tonight to get the shot of the Moon, but will try surely.

I love taking pictures around West Middle School in Binghamton (where Rod Serling of Twilight Zone fame was educated) that’s another beautiful Art Deco building. I should put some of the pictures on my blog. I loved that church – I have never seen anything quite like that! The suspended photo was beautiful, too.
