Signs, Signs, – Stokely Event Center

#stokelyeventcenter #signs #tulsa #oklahoma #igersok where Logan's school is having their #prom tonight

The best place in Tulsa for taking pics of signs is the Stokely Event Center. I’ve been there a few times taking pics of their outside signs but had never been inside. It is a cool place. They have their own geocache so you know they are cool, right?

Logan is looking sharp for his #prom #igersok #tulsa #oklahoma

Logan’s school had his prom there. Here is all spiffed up. I think he even liked his outfit. And that is saying something.

Heather helped with the event. (I just have to brag on her. Isn’t she beautiful? What does she see in me? That last was just a hypothetical question that you don’t need to answer!) I just got to drop off Logan and his buddy and then go home. I was ill you see and didn’t need to be getting the youngin’s sick.

I snuck inside anyway for a little while (yep snuck is a word here in Oklahoma. ) Talk about signs, the inside of the place is is a riot. Signs of all kinds everywhere. Many of them neon signs.

I liked the soft drink section. I’ve had most of these except I have never heard of Delaware Punch or Dandee. Anybody out there have those?

I was eyeing the shuffleboard table. Heather and I did a lot of our courting playing shuffleboard. It is still our game. But, I could only stay a few minutes and she was working and the event was for the kids. I thought about coughing on it and announcing a quarentine but decided not to.

I bet not too many of the kids knew what this is. I bet you most adults who knew, don’t remember. Oh, and then I had to go home.

LJ the #cat is trying to be friends #catsofinstagram #igersok

Where me and LJ watched a few episodes of Breaking Bad. My newest obsession. (I’m telling you for one last time to quit looking so stumped on what she sees in me!)

Signs, Signs.

You do make my evenings!! And I do love your sense of humor, it’s as cracked up as mine!! Heather is a beautiful lady — how did you talk her into marrying you??? Nah, I’m being silly and you do know that, don’t you??? Love your pics for the day. Hope you’re feeling better and that your week is going well! LJ is such a pretty cat!! Hope your week goes well!!

What a smart young man Logan is and the spitting image of you. Love his outfit and can totally understand his reluctance to dress up – boys of that age were ever thus.
I think my only question to you is – if you’re still off sick, how come you can take your son and friend to a prom? When I was knee high to a grasshopper, my Mum drilled in to me, “if you’re well enough to go to …. then you’re well enough to go to school”. This is an adage I passed on to my children and, in turn, pass on to you.
That said, this bug does seem to have you in its grip – get well soon so you can go back to work.

@LeedsLass – Heather had to go early to help set up so I came later to take Logan and friend to the event. I wasn’t going to miss going inside and taking a few snaps.

I have a virus that is proving very difficult to shake off.

Great place for taking photos of signs. I would have been tempted to go inside too.

I’m sure your co-workers are very happy you aren’t sharing your virus with them. Hope you feel better soon.

Now I understand – a virus is a different kettle of fish. You need to remain home, take ALL your antibiotics and watch tv to make you feel better. All is forgiven:-) I reiterate, get well soon – you can tell I’d never have made a nurse can’t you?

Man, there are some memory jogging signs in that collection. There used to be an Oklahoma Tire and Supply store in Ranch Acres shopping center at 31st and Harvard. Who could forget that neon Oldsmobile rocket logo? I can even recall the Metro Diner! That McDonalds is probably a circa 1960 or a little earlier, before they were advertizing how many millions had been sold directly on the signage. I am definitely going to have to put this place on my next photo shoot list in Tulsa. Thanks for sharing it with us.

That is one handsome son you have there! I love all of those old signs. They bring back some good memories. Oh and “snuck” is a word here in my neck of the woods too. I hope you are feeling better.
