My Dog Pierre

When I pulled up in the parking lot of the Equestrian Facility where SuperPizzaBoy is taking his Hippotherapy Sessions my dog Pierre ran to greet me.

Pierre is one cool dog. Of course I had never seen this dog before in my life, but he knew that he was my dog and was ready to jump in old 666BOI and go home with me. Before you get your pup trained here, buy them toys or give them a cozy spot, you should have an attachment. We had it.

Because Pierre knew that he was my dog and he had never seen me before in his life.

Of course we couldn’t go home right then and there because we had to watch SPB in the arena.

Are you wondering what I’m talking about? Well let me tell you a story.

Way back when, just before the last of the dinosaurs died out, young Yogi and his family lived in the Ranger Station at Payson, Arizona. We lived in a government issue cinder block house. Here is Yogi with his siblings. (Isn’t Yogi’s sister cute as a button?)

About every two or three months on a Saturday morning when we were all still in bed, Dad would yell, “Here’s Pierre!” and we could hear these dog toenails click clacking down the government linoleum in our hall and run into the bedroom I shared with my brother and jump up onto our bed and just go crazy jumping and licking and barking. It was a magical joyous occasion when Pierre showed up.

Being the little kids that we were we never wondered why or how Pierre got to our house. We just knew that he was there for a little while and then he was gone.

So whenever I see a Basset Hound, I know what his name is and I know that he is mine. And he knows that his name is Pierre and he is mine.

But I have never taken him home.

Cute story, did you ever know who the mystery Pierre was?
    I love the nose picture.

P.S. I don’t think farmer’s name their cows here either. Just crazy old photographers name the cows LOL!

@Sunny – years later Dad said that Pierre’s owner was a man that worked for Dad and the dog would occasionally get out its yard and make its way to the Ranger Station. So Dad would call the owner who would come pick Pierre up.

@Oklahoma Granny -this Pierre was dumped off at the equestrian center by some #%^#%%$^$. The staff has been feeding him. The future doesn’t look good for Pierre.

@Ellen – Sweetie says no. I think he would look good out on the Colorado praire myself.

Now why do I suspect that if Pierre shows up again he just may have “returned home” for good! And, hey, Sweetie’s right — maybe you just found a new geocaching buddy!! Great “nose” shot, too!! Have a great day!

Pierre looks pretty well fed. I imagine he belongs to someone nearby who would be very upset if he turned up missing. If you look up unconditional love in the big Oxford dictionary you will find a picture of Pierre or one of his species. I like dogs.

What a lovely story. The photo of you all is really great, and yes your little sister is adorable. Loved the one of Pierre, a very kissable nose he has. I could easily bring him home with me, if he was lost and on his own but I suspect his owners were close by.

Oh what a sweet story!! My sis once had a poodle named Pierre. Smart little dog, cute as a black button. I had a basset once…his named was a very dignified “Chester” and he was my high school graduation present!

Pierre has the most adorable nose. How could you resist taking him home? He looks very disappointed in the last photo.
And yes, all 3 of the kids look cute as buttons and naive enough to never question the mysterious Pierre!
