Skywatch Friday – Rainy Season

After a dry June things have been rainy in July. Makes for green country side and interesting skies. Northeast Oklahoma is called Green Country for a reason.

Here’s a shot from directly over our house to son Logan’s first elementary school less than a block away. Remember when schools were open and had classes. Good times right! The state of Oklahoma is letting every district decide for themselves how to handle the coming school year and it is amazing the variety of programs the administrators of the various districts have come up with.

Went on a walk yesterday at Lafortune Park and got rained on a little bit. I don’t mind, as long as I can keep the phone dry.

Here is a beer truck Skywatch shot. Too bad it is crap beer.

Lafortune Park has the prettiest crepe myrtle I have ever seen. It has all sorts of room to itself and gets full sun all day long. I think the staff has been taking very good care of it as well.

Son and I took the drone to north Tulsa’s Reservoir Hill subdivision and took some shots of the Tulsa Arrow. The Tulsa Arrow was originally put up for Charles Lindbergh’s transcontinental flight to show the way to the airport. Apparently all sorts of cities put arrows for that purpose way back when. A few years ago the subdivision’s residents recreated the arrow. You can see the story here. I think it is pretty cool. I have a geocache nearby.

That’s it for this week. I am linking with Skywatch Friday. Come join in!!

    Hello,

We have been having a dry summer here, I wish we could have some of your rain. Love the sky images. The arrow on the ground is a cool drone capture. Thanks for hosting Skywatch! Take care, stay safe! Have a great day!

We’ve been having rain in July, too – thankfully! One of Bob’s best friends drank only Buds – he died young (I hope not from the beer, but it may have contributed.) That is a beautiful Myrtle tree.

That arrow is the coolest thing. It’s raining in Yellowstone too, although it’s supposed to dry back up in the coming week.

The greens and blues in your second photo are just gorgeous – wow! The park with the crepe myrtle looks very well maintained – must be nice walking around there. Hope you are well and happy!

Wonderful sky shots. I liked your comment about budweiser, it’s a crap beer. I agree and it cracks me up how many people over here think it’s great because it’s an import. 🙂
    Have a great week!

If I run down and buy a drone, it’s going to be all your fault. I love the possibilities. I really could have had some fun with one on vacation last week.
I used to work in that building in the left background of your La Fortune Park image. I was still an intern architect back then. I passed my licensing exam while working there.
Kudos to the neighborhood for restoring the Tulsa Arrow and what a great back story to go with it. Thanks for taking us on your adventures. Even though I have now lived nearly half of my life in Northwest Arkansas, Tulsa will ALWAYS be my hometown.

It’s good you’re getting rain over Summer though, dry just causes trouble. I”m not really a beer drinker, mind you I don’t really drink at all so I can’t judge on the beer.

You had a good week for real and for making photos (I guess those are the same thing really). . It *is* too bad some of our good craft beers don’t have iconic trucks and horses … those do make good pictures. Yup I remember when there were schools that kids went to…. and I’m glad I am two generations removed from having to decide what to do about the fact that they either can’t or shouldn’t (it’s still up in the air here ).
