Skywatch Friday – Courthouse Skies

It was beautiful weather this week and I got to spend much of the first part of it at the courthouse. Nope I wasn’t in jail, I got called to jury duty. So I got to wait a lot in the jury room in the basement and then I got to wait a lot outside the courtroom and then wait some more while they questioned us one by one. It was a first degree murder trial so it was all pretty serious.

I was impressed with the whole thing. Lots of waiting I know but the important thing is to get things right. Execution was off the table but life without parole was a possibility. I was impressed with the other 39 potential jurors. They all took it seriously, none tried to get off the jury, and they gave thoughtful answers to questions. I didn’t get picked and so I am “on call” the remainder of the week. So I’m free at last!! I went home, after being dismissed, and researched the case. I’ll say more after the trial is completed which should be Friday or Monday.

Meanwhile, here is my beloved Turkey Mountain from across the Arkansas River as it flows through Tulsa.

And another shot across the river with some funky looking clouds.

I’m thankful this week for our justice system. For all its faults I think the people in it try and do their best. I am thankful for my freedoms that I have in this country and the opportunity to be on a jury.

I’m linking with Skywatch Friday. Come join me!!

Colorado calls people for jury duty no matter what their age. I got called last year (just before Covid) but the case was settled out of court. My problem now is my hearing isn’t what it once was – I’m not sure I hear adequately to serve. Looks like blue skies in OK. It’s snowing hard here.

Ha ha, glad you’re not behind bars! I didn’t get selected last time either but was on call. As a matter of fact, I’ve never been selected.

Greetings and Salutations! My husband, John, and I received our first does of COVID-19 vaccine last Tuesday, March 2nd at Walgreen’s. We had an appointment. We were in and out with no waiting. Amazing! John had a lot of aches and pains. I didn’t have any symptoms except a sore left arm; but doable.
Excellent find for that last image posted. Those clouds are so different.

Alan – jury duty is one of the most important pillars of our system – so glad to hear people were taking it seriously. The last time I served on a jury was a dental malpractice suit – I didn’t enjoy going to the dentist before that and it is even worse since! Enjoy your weekend!

I’m hoping I don’t get called until COVID is over; I’m not even sure how they are doing jury trials where I live in New York State. I’ve never had to serve when called. My husband was picked for a murder trial years ago but it was plea bargained before the trial commenced, so he was excused at that point. That last photo has quite the sky; nice capture.

Too bad you didn’t get picked, it would have been an interesting experience. I’m almost 61 years old and have never received a jury summons. I’d really like to serve, all they have to do is call.

Wow! Lovely clouds in your sky. I think jury duty would be a very interesting experience. I too would love to be picked but so far didn’t get the call. I hope you get to do it one day.

The sky in the last photo is beautiful especially with the view of the river. Never been on a jury, got called one time but didn’t get selected. Have a wonderful day.
