Skywatch Friday – South Dakota Sunrise

Flandreau Sunrise.jpg

Early morning sunrise on my drive out of Flandreau, South Dakota. I had already said my goodbyes to the family the night before and I was off on my 670 mile drive back to Tulsa via South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas. I caught this sight in my rear view mirror so I had to stop and take a picture on the rise out of the Big Sioux River Valley.

What a splendid sun rise! I looked at your past posts and enjoyed your visit to the museum and all the Native American art. Here in Georgia, in Cartersville actually about 35 miles north of my home, is a great western museum. We went there a couple of months ago and I took many pictures – I’ll have to write a post on it. It is called The Booth Western Art Museum (the only western museum in the Southeast http://boothmuseum.org/ .)

Wow…used to live on the Big Sioux, in Hawarden, Iowa, teaching high school. Where my oldest son was born. Shopped for groceries in Sioux city, went to church in Sioux Falls.

South Dakota in your rearview mirror was wonderful (maybe in more than one meaning of the phrase)..but this picture is amazing.

Thanks for SWF…the picture there was beautiful and perfect for the meme…I couldn’t find a place to comment there.

Nice! I can feel the glory that only a sunrise can transmit. What would we do without our mirrors? Well, check for traffic, I suppose. šŸ™‚ Happy weekend to you, and thank you for your work with SkyWatch.

I did a good thing stopping the car and taking this photo. So beautiful. I hope you also took some time before driving again to admire its beauty.

By the way, thanks for hosting the Skywatch Friday. I love it. I wanted to leave a comment some time ago on the Skywatch blog… but couldn’t find where to (I guessed comments aren’t enable there). So I’m thanking you here! Thanks!
Also, thanks for visiting my blog!
Regards from Barcelona. Have a nice long weekend. (It’s Labor Day isn’t it?) šŸ˜‰
