Song-ography: The Summer Wind by Frank Sinatra

The Summer Wind

Writer(s): Hans Bradtke, Henry Mayer, Johnny Mercer

Wife x 4

The summer wind, came blowin in – from across the sea
It lingered there, so warm and fair – to walk with me
All summer long, we sang a song – and strolled on golden sand
Two sweethearts, and the summer wind

90400016

Like painted kites, those days and nights – went flyin by
The world was new, beneath a blue – umbrella sky
Then softer than, a piper man – one day it called to you
And I lost you, to the summer wind

R1-50

The autumn wind, and the winter wind – have come and gone
And still the days, those lonely days – go on and on
And guess who sighs his lullabies – through nights that never end
My fickle friend, the summer wind

My favorite summer wind is on the beach and my favorite companion on the beach is Sweetie.

And SuperPizzaBoy of Course

Now I love music but Sweetie is my authorative source and she thinks Frank is just fine,

But Mister Buble does much better.

Without Mr. Sinatra, Mr. Buble’s would not have had such inspiration…remind the Mrs of that. (tho’ I love the tempo of this rendition) It’s like a Bruno Mars thing. Jus’ sayin’. And don’t get me going on Aaron Copland and his arranger Grofe.
I love that you called out the lyricists and composers. Without them Mr Sinatra wouldn’t have had HIS inspiration.
Glad you and the Mrs and PB had a great time on the beach.

Such fun shots from the beach. You guys look to be having a wonderful time. I really liked those first shots of your sweetie heading towards you on the sand.

Listened to Michael version too here and it’s pretty good. A little more upbeat tempo but nicely done. Since I wasn’t familiar with Sinatra’s version until I listened to it had I heard this one first I would have enjoyed it just as much.

I really like that series of first shots walking along the beach…they have a vintage feel to them that I envision when listening to a Frank Sinatra song :). Thanks for joining in at Song-ography!

Love your beach shots. That first series is especially fun and carefree.

I enjoyed the Buble version of this song. I wasn’t really familiar with it in the first place though!

What a great collection of beach shots. Perfect for this song! Personally, I don’t think you can go wrong with either Sinatra or Buble!
