“E” is For Expanse, the Wide Open Spaces. This week I drove from Oklahoma up to South Dakota and back to attend a family reunion. Driving through Oklahoma, Missouri, Iowa, South Dakota and Nebraska and Kansas on the return trip it truly is amazing how big and Expansive the Great Plains are. They really are beautiful.

I haven’t been on any road trips lately, but I have made that drive from Oklahoma north in the past. You are right that the Great Plains are expansive and a sight to see.
i love road trips but the last one was NYC to Mathews, VA in 2011 ….

i’m curious about the great plains. someday i hoped to be able to see the country outside of the west.
the last road trip i had was in may, but it’s here in cali. and as usual the road winds through giant tree groves into spectacular craggy cliffs and gorgeous views of the pacific ocean.

My life used to be one whole big road trip! And we loved every moment of it.
Expanse is a word just made for the territory you drove through on your most recent one.
I know people who don’t “get” how special it is to see this kind of big country. I feel sorry for them, because I love the feeling we get from knowing this country is out there.
The states you drove through certainly did give the EXPERIENCE of EXPANSE. No recent road trips for me but I’m due for one soon. EXPECTATION is high! Kate, ABC Team

And Flat. The hardest part of moving out there was getting your bearings without a compass.
The Midwestern plains are most certainly beautiful. My last road trip was to Flagstaff and Grand Falls. Think I’m about due for another.

We live in the Kansas plains and it is beautiful to me. The wide open spaces can be breathtaking.
