Skywatch Friday
Due to a Google mishap I’m no longer at yogis-den(dot)com. They are making it impossible to get it back so I’ve moved everything back over to the www.crustygasguy.blogspot.com while I ponder what to do, if anything. I like writing posts but I hate getting under the hood and trying to figure out the nuts and bolts when things go wrong. So I’m thinking I’m going to try a new domain name registrar and get a multiyear term. I would appreciate any recommendations on domain name registrars that easy to deal with.
I would also say beware to anybody out there who bought their domain name through Google even if you have auto renewal. A bunch of the renewals are failing, even with current payment information, and when it fails your domain name is gone and Google’s customer service isn’t up to the task of helping you get it back.
Oh, what a friggin’ mess!!! I’ve had SO much trouble since I moved! It’s been one thing after another and a total collapse of everything cost me a sizeable amount to get everything cleaned up. I haven’t (my fingers are crossed) lost anything — YET!! But who knows. Hang in there!!

I like domainit.com for my domains. I have used them for years for myself and clients. They’re good about hosting and supports, too.
I’m with you on the beach. I think the mountains will be nice too. Too bad about your domain…what a mess.

I remember when you went to your own domain name. I just use blogspot. The thing I like about it is it’s free. No matter what is under the hood I would sure miss your blog if it went away.

What a beautiful sunrise! No wonder your mind is still on the beach. When we lived down south and had little kids, we spent a week on Destin every summer, fun for all.

I don’t blame you for still being on the beach. This sucks with your blog problems. I use Hostgator and WordPress, at a cost, but no problems so far.

I’ve had my own issues with Google on domain stuff. Mine is automatic renewal and I couldn’t cancel if I wanted to. Hmmmph.

What an awful nuisance. Mine is automatic too and hearing about this kind of thing makes me real uneasy. Sorry you’ve had to deal with it.
