Yesterday it was 104F but later in the day clouds started forming up and about a half hour before sunset they were looking dramatic. So I got the drone ready and synched it with my phone and went outside about the time a huge gust of wind came through. I’m glad I didn’t have my little lightweight drone in the air cuz it would have been headed to the land of Oz.
So I brought it back inside and took a photo of the clouds from the ground and yep they looked great.
A little while later the winds subsided some so I launched the drone from my back yard. I could only get about 30 meters in the air before it started barking at me to lower it or I would lose it. So most of these shots are at about 25 to 27 meters off the ground.
There were several rain fronts that moved the area last night. We got no rain at the house.
But hey I got to take some photos. We had some drizzly rain Wednesday most of the day. That’s fine with me. A little bit of drizzly rain seems to be better than hours of running of running the sprinkler sysetem.
My friend, and former coworker, Josh, sent me this photo from the Bakken Field of North Dakota of a drilling rig set up in a corn field. Yep, they are still drilling up there. See all the trailers and such. There are all sorts of people involved in drilling a well. Most of the time they will drill at least four wells from one location.

Alan – sometimes these fronts can be scary. The other night, it was still light out, and all of sudden the wind picked up and the trees were bending … the first thing we do is fill lots of containers with water, because if a tree blows down and the power goes out, our well pump does not work! And then we watch for lightning, which could start a forest fire. Oy vey! I love summer, but part of me is ready for rain and fall and snow and winter so we can stop being anxious.
…we aren’t that hot, but I’d love a cold front to come through and dump some rain. Thanks for hosting.

We’ve had so many thunder storms in the last month – your clouds look so similar to ours.
Oil rigs are something we don’t see here at all, probably because NZ does not have oil LOL. But I’m wondering if B can sync his phone to his drone, I suspect not as I think it’s an older model but will have to investigate.

these drone pictures are amazing. Here we had short and terrible storms in the south of France, and torrential rain for two hours in Paris. There really is a climate problem. and i’m afraid it’s getting worse and worse

Wow, that is some very hot weather you are having. It’s been very hot hear too but haven’t kept track of the hottest temperatures. We had a very late start to hot weather and I hope it doesn’t last too long. Your cloud photos are beautiful.
Dramatic skies and 104 is hot! I learned that too well when I lived in your part of the country years ago. If there had been drones back when I did live out there I think I would have bought one. You get some wonderful pictures!
