{"id":10695,"date":"2016-04-11T22:08:02","date_gmt":"2016-04-12T03:08:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/yogisden.us\/?p=10695"},"modified":"2016-04-12T03:08:48","modified_gmt":"2016-04-12T08:08:48","slug":"new-orleans-audobon-park-via-the-st-charles-streetcar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/yogisden.us\/?p=10695","title":{"rendered":"New Orleans &#8211; Audubon Park via the St. Charles Streetcar"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a title=\"_DSC0472\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/26333408206\/in\/dateposted\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1598\/26333408206_d8dcdeedee_z.jpg\" alt=\"_DSC0472\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">True confessions, this isn&#8217;t the streetcar I rode out to <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Audubon Park, New Orleans\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Audubon_Park%2C_New_Orleans\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Audubon park<\/a> on.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><script src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m here in <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"New Orleans\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/New_Orleans\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">New Orleans<\/a> at a convention but Monday morning is mainly convention business meetings so I got up and had me a parfait from Starbucks cuz I&#8217;m trying to be healthy at least for a few hours and then I walked up Poydras Street from the hotel to St. Charles and caught the streetcar from there to Audubon Park.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"IMAG0962\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/26278889302\/in\/dateposted\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1591\/26278889302_41379c3779_z.jpg\" alt=\"IMAG0962\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" \/><\/a><script src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>I have been to New Orleans several times now but have never set foot on a street car because I was unsure how one paid and where they went and so on and kind of worried about the safety of it all especially since former New Orleans Saint football player\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/nfl\/2016\/04\/11\/warrant-ex-saints-player-will-smith-was-shot-in-back-torso\/82883224\/\" target=\"_blank\">Will Smith<\/a> was murdered in the Garden District just a day or so ago and Audubon Park is in the Garden District.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 370px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a title=\"IMAG0961\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/26098397830\/in\/dateposted\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1581\/26098397830_bdb9e3c4da_z.jpg\" alt=\"IMAG0961\" width=\"360\" height=\"640\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">My first New Orleans geocache in several years. Boy did I take heat on facebook for this. Everybody is going &#8220;Aren&#8217;t you supposed to be working?&#8221; Hey, you take care of you, and I&#8217;ll take care of me! Deal.!?<\/p><\/div>\n<p><script src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>I checked the world wide interwebs and it was kind of strange. People said that despite the New Orleans being the murder capital of the USA, they didn&#8217;t feel nervous about putting their garbage out late at night. Whoa, it had never occurred to me to worry about taking the garbage out anywhere I have lived. Should I startt?<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"_DSC0478\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/26099155360\/in\/dateposted\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1500\/26099155360_45ac01af9d_z.jpg\" alt=\"_DSC0478\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><script src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Well, I was very brave. I headed out on the streetcar without a weapon, not even a knife or even pepper spray.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"_DSC0481\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/26371956255\/in\/dateposted\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1458\/26371956255_27c95c4319_z.jpg\" alt=\"_DSC0481\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><script src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Well guess what, Audubon Park is pretty mellow, people walking their dogs, coeds from Loyola and Tulane jogging (how come lots more young women run than men???) old folks walking their dogs. It was a very chill scene (did I say that right? I&#8217;m an old guy and I know that I risk making a fool of myself when I pretend that I&#8217;m hip.) (Although at this point, I&#8217;m beyond caring what people think.)\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"_DSC0485\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/26305687061\/in\/dateposted\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1691\/26305687061_641e970ca8_z.jpg\" alt=\"_DSC0485\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><script src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Anyways I didn&#8217;t go to the Zoo. I walked the two miles around the golf course and it was nice. Trees and lights on both sides. What&#8217;s up.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"_DSC0509\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/26098784710\/in\/dateposted\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1545\/26098784710_efaf76f88a_z.jpg\" alt=\"_DSC0509\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><script src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>They have paved trails with politically correct divisions between bikers and runners and dirt trails also.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"_DSC0508\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/26098794960\/in\/dateposted\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1472\/26098794960_e69520a4b0_z.jpg\" alt=\"_DSC0508\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><script src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>And some dinosaur looking birds which I think are cormorants but I&#8217;ve come to find out that there are a gazillion different types of cormorants as well.<\/p>\n<p>So I walked a little over two miles, took a trip out and a trip back on the Streetcar and started the convention in a very chill mood which I have maintained through the whole day.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/vNjZdX5d8uY\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>And so I was able to visit the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.laturbine.com\/our-company\/events\/gpa-2016\/\" target=\"_blank\">L.A. Turbines Voodoo Chapel<\/a> and get rid of some bad ju ju and reinfore good ju ju. I love a vendor owned by a Belgian, don&#8217;t you?
