I first went two years ago and I thought it was wonderful. \u00a0<a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Day of the Dead\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Day_of_the_Dead\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Dia De Muertos<\/a> (Dia De Los Muertos is a back translation from English I read) is a day where people in Mexico honor and remember their relatives and close friends who have died.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"_DSC0295\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/30656700591\/in\/dateposted\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/c8.staticflickr.com\/6\/5552\/30656700591_4f52dfaedf_z.jpg\" alt=\"_DSC0295\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Often the dead are remembered via <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ofrenda\" target=\"_blank\">Ofrendas<\/a> (Offerings) which are altars built to honor the dead person. It may have photographs of the deceased or possessions and often contain favorite foods or beverages and if it is a child, a toy. Living Arts in their &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.livingarts.org\/altared-spaces-exhibit-2016\" target=\"_blank\">Altared Spaces<\/a>&#8221; Exhbit displayed Ofrendas made by people for their loved ones. In fact they solicit the public to put up Ofrendas.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"_DSC0298\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/30708974996\/in\/dateposted\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/c5.staticflickr.com\/6\/5622\/30708974996_e4770a8273_z.jpg\" alt=\"_DSC0298\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Some were for people who had a long life and many children and grand children.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"_DSC0299\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/30629083242\/in\/dateposted\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/c3.staticflickr.com\/6\/5748\/30629083242_39d8e0c4bc_z.jpg\" alt=\"_DSC0299\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>And others were for people who passed away way too young.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"_DSC0302\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/30445065330\/in\/dateposted\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/c3.staticflickr.com\/6\/5348\/30445065330_f42182233e_z.jpg\" alt=\"_DSC0302\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>They were all works of art.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"_DSC0304\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/30708794266\/in\/dateposted\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/c3.staticflickr.com\/6\/5607\/30708794266_59fff37e0d_z.jpg\" alt=\"_DSC0304\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Ofrenda\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ofrenda\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Ofrenda<\/a> above is for those people who died while trying to cross the border.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"_DSC0315\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/30115921644\/in\/dateposted\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/c5.staticflickr.com\/6\/5703\/30115921644_8c3337df54_z.jpg\" alt=\"_DSC0315\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>I love the concept of honoring lost ones with an Ofrenda.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"_DSC0328\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/30447200760\/in\/dateposted\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/c1.staticflickr.com\/6\/5787\/30447200760_c17ea6140b_z.jpg\" alt=\"_DSC0328\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Living Arts also had murals painted just for the event. Food vendors, crafts, other performers.
