{"id":12272,"date":"2019-06-02T21:50:06","date_gmt":"2019-06-03T02:50:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/yogisden.us\/?p=12272"},"modified":"2019-06-02T22:01:59","modified_gmt":"2019-06-03T03:01:59","slug":"2019-broken-arrow-chalk-it-up-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/yogisden.us\/?p=12272","title":{"rendered":"2019 Broken Arrow Chalk it Up Art Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-flickr wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2g6Zkez\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/47981812631_794c94cb55_c.jpg\" alt=\"_DSC0972\" width=\"533\" height=\"800\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Saturday the family headed out to the Tulsa suburb of Broken Arrow to check out their &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.keepbabeautiful.org\/rose-festival\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Chalk it Up Art Festiva (opens in a new tab)\">Chalk it Up Art Festiva<\/a>l&#8221; held in conjunction with the Broken Arrow Rose Festival. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-flickr wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2g6Zbdt\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/47981782291_e33d3e2126.jpg\" alt=\"_DSC0981\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event is held on Main Street in downtown Broken Arrow (aka the Rose District). Contestants use chalk and create their works right on the street. It is pretty amazing and it looks to me like a lot of work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-flickr wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2g6ZdmG\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/47981789496_7ca1f7b45f.jpg\" alt=\"_DSC0979\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They had a lot of entries, maybe over thirty or so. The only other time we came was years ago and they had maybe a dozen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-flickr wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2g6ZhTh\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/47981804726_cfaae77a78.jpg\" alt=\"_DSC0973\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They were very colorful and showed a wide variety of themes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-flickr wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2g6Z72j\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/47981768188_a1aa4df81a.jpg\" alt=\"_DSC0970\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unfortunately it started sprinkling when we got there so I turned into a man on a mission, photographing almost all of them before it started raining so I was not able to go back and study them in more detail. Plus there were a ton of vendors set up in tents selling all sorts of interesting arts, crafts, and other things. We usually try and check those out also but not this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-flickr wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2g6ZfQX\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/47981797863_d5be20689a.jpg\" alt=\"_DSC0960\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So just as I finished it started sprinkling pretty heavy and we had parked a ways away so we headed back to the car. Turns out that maybe we should have not left so quickly but oh well.
