It was a nice day so after eating we decided to check out Shannon Springs Park in the town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-flickr wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2irpok2\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/49514232687_0e772e04db.jpg\" alt=\"DSCF9708\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It was a nice park and I found out that there were originally artisian springs there and that it was a stop on the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Chisolm Trail (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Chisholm_Trail\" target=\"_blank\">Chisolm Trail<\/a> for herds to stop and water on their way along the trail from Texas to Kansas. History in Oklahoma is worn kind of lightly because it wasn&#8217;t that long ago. Jesse Chisolm developed the trails. I <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"found his grave out (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/yogisden.us\/?p=11921\" target=\"_blank\">found his grave out<\/a> in the middle of nowhere a few years ago. People still really believe in the old west here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-flickr wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2irkA8p\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/49513491933_ec2f23b3c9.jpg\" alt=\"DSCF9710\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>So later on a park was started and in the 1930&#8217;s the WPA built an amphitheater and other improvements to the park that still around today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-flickr wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2irocSE\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/49514002406_67e223bf08.jpg\" alt=\"DSCF9715\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I loved this caretaker&#8217;s cottage at the park.  I don&#8217;t think anybody lives there any longer. I love the concept of a caretaker.
