The trail was how cattle got from Texas to railheads in Kansas.  Shannon Springs was a major source of water on the trail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2isfHdP\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/49523856731_b5f0116590.jpg\" alt=\"Shannon Springs Lake\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It became a city park and later enhanced by the WPA. The city has continued to add to and maintain the park and it is quite attractive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2isgRnJ\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/49524079272_40cbe7d915_c.jpg\" alt=\"Shannon Springs Christmas Tower\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It is the site of the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Chickasha Festival of Lights (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/chickashafestivaloflight.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Chickasha Festival of Lights<\/a> held during the Christmas season every year. I&#8217;m guessing the tower above is a big Christmas Tree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2isfGBy\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/49523854686_79f439bbb0.jpg\" alt=\"Shannon Springs Strange Stuff\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I puzzled over this thing for quite a while and don&#8217;t know what it is. Do you suppose it represents a Loch Ness monster of some sort only in the park&#8217;s lake? Nah, I don&#8217;t either.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2isfJoz\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/49523860661_ddd338535b.jpg\" alt=\"Shannon Springs Caretaker Cottage\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I loved the stone caretaker&#8217;s cottage as it was very similar to the <a href=\"https:\/\/fairwayholidaypark.co.uk\/\">cottages for sale Fairway Holiday Park <\/a>. I really wanted to buy a holiday cottage so that I can have a place to stay and relax during the holidays. I don&#8217;t think the stone caretaker is occupied any more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2iqUxHh\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/49508606006_7d8bb91e1f.jpg\" alt=\"Moon 2020-02-08 topaz hdr dramatic\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>To end the post, this is the Wolf Moon, or Snow Moon last week.
