It was the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/runsignup.com\/Race\/OK\/Tulsa\/TessTrailRun\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/runsignup.com\/Race\/OK\/Tulsa\/TessTrailRun\" target=\"_blank\">Tess 5K Trail Run<\/a>. It was on Turkey Mountain and was a fund and awareness raiser for the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thegriefcenter.org\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.thegriefcenter.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tristesse Grief Center<\/a> a local Tulsa non-profit that provides grief services such as counseling. The event also included a 10K run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2mbQer2\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/51318403423_b687acb5ae_c.jpg\" alt=\" \" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I did the race with my race friend Paula. We basically walked it and trotted it when we found non-rocky relatively flat places which on Turkey Mountain are not many.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2mbSRUj\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/51318916334_3f4c63042e.jpg\" alt=\" \" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I told everybody that I finished first in my age group, and I did and I was also dead last of the 13 men who ran the race. I was there though and finished vertically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2mbUiSq\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/51319198800_97a79f58a4.jpg\" alt=\" \" width=\"500\" height=\"376\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Got this nice medal. Truth be told, I am not a fan of the medals. They don&#8217;t really fit into my wife&#8217;s decorating scheme for the house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2mbQcug\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/51318396883_65c55f526e_z.jpg\" alt=\" \" width=\"600\" height=\"600\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here&#8217;s the route. We started at the south parking lot (bottom of page) and went straight up the mountain (hill really) and did a loop, and came back down. The course was marked enough to where we didn&#8217;t get lost. Apparently somebody on a bicycle messed up the markers for the 10K so it&#8217;s results were in chaos. I am not knocking cyclists. They way outnumber the trail runners when it comes to cleanup days at the local trails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div style=\"top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 0; position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%;\">\t\t\t\t<iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%; position: absolute;\"  src=\"https:\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/photos\/51319221265\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So a good time was had by all. We each got a beer to go with the medal so that was an unexpected bonus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event was a win\/win\/win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Challenging well marked course, check!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Unflappable course timers, I got the wrong tag number but the timer guy figured it out quickly without a lot of drama, check!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Nice tee shirt, check!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Beer, check!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Friendly race director and well organized volunteers, check.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I had a good time, I will be back!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ourworldtuesdaymeme.blogspot.com\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"http:\/\/ourworldtuesdaymeme.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Our World Tuesday<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Saturday I raced my second race since the pandemic started.
