It is a fund raiser with races in almost all the bigger cities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2o3NoTf\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52540226564_1b3810008a.jpg\" alt=\" \" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><figcaption>You can tell we have drouth going on. The Arkansas River is way down.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Back when I used to run a lot the Jingle Bell Run was a must do. They had the best tshirts!! Big thick shirts with bold graphics. I think the fastest 5K I ever ran was during Jingle Bell Run. I think the temperature was 9 degrees F.  I was motivated!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2o45cP3\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52543311108_68e25afcf8.jpg\" alt=\"DSCF0505\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><figcaption>Fall Color!!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Years ago, they used to have the run adjacent to a large inside space so you could stay inside where it was warm and when you finished you could go inside and warm up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2o45cT1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52543311338_a65a9abc53.jpg\" alt=\"DSCF0504\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>None of that nowadays! The race started in a big open field with a cold wind bearing down direct from the north pole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2o44TcA\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52543248500_591a4b051e_c.jpg\" alt=\"DSCF0503\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><figcaption>All the slow folks, like me, are bundled up.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Don&#8217;t feel sorry for me though. I volunteered to run the race and brought my heated vest that Heather got me for Christmas last year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2o3Z3z5\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52542304462_2e7f2e16ba_c.jpg\" alt=\"DSCF0506\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><figcaption>More Fall Color<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It worked great. Not only does it warm the body but it also warms your neck and has heated pockets!! So I was warm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2o43VaK\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52543060009_e7769a1f50.jpg\" alt=\"DSCF0507\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><figcaption>The route went right by the Route 66 Neon Sign Park.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact as the race went on, I turned the heating elements on my vest off. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2o42pcY\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52542764106_effb4eb20e.jpg\" alt=\"DSCF0508\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><figcaption>Crossing the Arkansas River looking south.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The race went up and down the Arkansas River using the River Parks trail system. I am up for a fast walk up and down the riverparks. I always see something new there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2o42NKL\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52542843322_933a065e7d_c.jpg\" alt=\" \" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I finished out of the money but I got a very nice participation medal. I don&#8217;t know exactly how I finished in relation to others in my age group for some reason they don&#8217;t have a link to the timing company on their web page. I&#8217;ve sent an email asking about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2o47Dgi\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52543786955_dcf2610a83_c.jpg\" alt=\" \" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>And the tee shirt. Still a very nice, thick tee shirt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe src='https:\/\/connect.garmin.com\/modern\/activity\/embed\/10078093995' title='Jingle Bell Run 5K' width='465' height='500' frameborder='0'><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>So I walked the whole way. Nowdays my fast walking pace is only a bit slower than my trotting pace so I just took it easy.  Enjoyed myself immensely.
