A celebration of all things concerning Route 66. This is the third year I have attended it and I love it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2rcmdVY\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54606038938_d3cf0e1fd1.jpg\" alt=\"_DSC0860\" width=\"500\" height=\"399\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong>1971 Pontiac GTO<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Cars are a big part of Route 66. These two ladies had this trailer and a bunch of associated things plus what I loved was they wore matching dresses color coordinated with the trailer. I hardly ever ask people if I can take their photo but I asked them and they seemed delighted to do so. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2rcdpzP\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54604513877_9169da3762.jpg\" alt=\"_DSC0874\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Our family of five in the 60&#8217;s also had a small travel trailer. We used a lot and I am sure that we saved lots of money but we were also very cramped. It was not too bad if the weather was good as you could always go outside. In bad weather though it led to lots of family togetherness. Much of it good, and some of it not so great. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2rcdpAW\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54604513942_ba54dfd5ba.jpg\" alt=\"_DSC0873\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Hey had metal glasses like those and a metal water pitcher. The iced water in such pitchers just seemed a lot colder than that in plastic water containers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2rchVjj\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54605394346_fefa616aef.jpg\" alt=\"_DSC0875\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Everybody had these small phonographs. So nostalgic but I&#8217;ll take my Ipod with almost 6500 music tracks on it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2rchVj9\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54605394336_1b93b7f832.jpg\" alt=\"_DSC0877\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I love this two story travel trailer. Reportedly it has two bedrooms upstairs. What a spectacle that would be. What a nightmare pulling the thing in a strong crosswind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2rchNZL\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54605373086_075892246e.jpg\" alt=\"_DSC0886\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong>1953 Buick Super Convertible Model 56C<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>My dad loved Buicks and I don&#8217;t know how many times he told me that you could tell how fancy the model was by the number holes in fender. So this was a three holer in his parlance, kind of like the Buick LeSabre. The Electra had four. We had a LeSabre when I was a kid. The first new car my parents ever bought. Dad saved money by getting it without air conditioning and then he salvaged parts from numerous cars in junkyards and built his own. I always thought they looked cool<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2rciRdZ\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54605575693_98c1ab4f92.jpg\" alt=\"_DSC0898\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong>1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>There were loads and loads of Ford Mustangs as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2rchLfT\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54605363871_46af5ebac8.jpg\" alt=\"_DSC0900\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong>1957 Ford Thunderbird<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The 1950&#8217;s Ford Thunderbirds, in my opinion, were some of the most beautiful cars ever built. I especially like the unique colors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2rciKqm\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54605556168_52c10464d0.jpg\" alt=\"_DSC0920\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong>Land Rover Defender<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I love the Land Rovers, especially the vintage models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2rcrMVx\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54607125485_3808258ece.jpg\" alt=\" \" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong>Volkswagen Karman Ghia<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This was the prettiest car at the show. The Volkswagen Karman Ghia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next year is the centennial of Route 66.
