As previously reported we went to see the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yogis-den.com\/2012\/12\/our-world-road-trip-to-see-ed-galloways.html\">World&#8217;s Tallest Totem Pole.<\/a> On the way back we stopped at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bluewhaleroute66.com\/\">Blue Whale<\/a> on Route 66 in the city of Catoosa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/8279880020\/\" title=\"IMG_8675 by alnbbates, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"IMG_8675\" height=\"375\" src=\"http:\/\/yogisden.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/8279880020_ffd8f475d6-300x225.jpg\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\">The Blue Whale was built by Hugh S. Davis, a former Tulsa Zoo employee, starting in late 1960&#8217;s and finished in 1972 as a gift to his wife.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/8279744940\/\" title=\"DSCI0092 by alnbbates, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"DSCI0092\" height=\"375\" src=\"http:\/\/yogisden.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/8279744940_e4fe2c28c6-300x225.jpg\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a><br \/><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">(SuperPizzaBoy Photo)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\">A welder friend of his welded the pipe framework and Mr. Davis applied the concrete one five gallon bucket at a time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/8278696543\/\" title=\"DSCI0097 by alnbbates, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"DSCI0097\" height=\"375\" src=\"http:\/\/yogisden.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/8278696543_6c83f46d21-300x225.jpg\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\">He built slides off the whale into the pond and a diving platform off the tail. He opened up the whale and pond up to the public for swimming,&nbsp;picnicking, and fishing. Mr. Davis is gone now and the property is owned by his children.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/8279757196\/\" title=\"DSCI0098 by alnbbates, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"DSCI0098\" height=\"375\" src=\"http:\/\/yogisden.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/8279757196_d22f2f703c-300x225.jpg\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a><br \/><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">(SuperPizzaBoy Photo) &#8211; Notice the potbellied, bald headed, old man that looks like he is getting swallowed by the whale? That is SPB&#8217;s father.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\">It is now maintained by the Catoosa Arts and Tourism Society. It is free of charge and they allow catch and release fishing but they don&#8217;t really want you swimming there.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/8279765416\/\" title=\"DSCI0102 by alnbbates, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"DSCI0102\" height=\"375\" src=\"http:\/\/yogisden.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/8279765416_73481f007a-300x225.jpg\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Mr. Davis also built other attractions on the property that are in disrepair and off limits but the remains can be seen from the parking lot.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/8279769752\/\" title=\"DSCI0104 by alnbbates, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"DSCI0104\" height=\"375\" src=\"http:\/\/yogisden.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/8279769752_f9e2f31032-300x225.jpg\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\">This is the Ark that he built, he also had an alligator ranch and a praire dog village.
