{"id":501,"date":"2012-12-03T14:00:00","date_gmt":"2012-12-03T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/yogisden.us\/?p=501"},"modified":"2014-06-15T04:47:09","modified_gmt":"2014-06-15T04:47:09","slug":"where-east-meets-west-sculpture-by-robert-summers-on-route-66-in-tulsa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/yogisden.us\/?p=501","title":{"rendered":"Where East Meets West Sculpture by Robert Summers on Route 66 in Tulsa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Where East Meets West is a newly installed sculpture by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.summersstudio.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Robert Summers<\/a> at Tulsa&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.route66tulsa.org\/#!cyrus-avery-centennial-plaza\/c1h54\" target=\"_blank\">Cyrus Avery Plaza<\/a>. <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cyrus_Avery\" target=\"_blank\">Cyrus Avery<\/a> &nbsp;is considered the father of Route 66 and interstate roads in general. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.route66tulsa.org\/#!cyrus-avery-centennial-plaza\/c1h54\" target=\"_blank\">Cyrus Avery Plaza <\/a>is right on Route 66 right on the Arkansas River just outside of downtown Tulsa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/8231275440\/\" title=\"IMG_7040 by alnbbates, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"IMG_7040\" height=\"375\" src=\"http:\/\/yogisden.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/8231275440_6b3b2660ee-300x225.jpg\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\">The sculpture done at 135% life size depicts a horsedrawn wagon from the oilfields of west Tulsa encountering an autombile driven by Cyrus Avery. The oilfield tubing in the back of the wagon has special joints called upset tubing. Notice the wood grain and the screw and fitting.
