I haven&#8217;t been here since right before Katrina in 2005 when Sweetie came along.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/7081977971\/\" title=\"IMG_0246 by alnbbates, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"IMG_0246\" height=\"375\" src=\"http:\/\/yogisden.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/7081977971_148c691e8a-300x225.jpg\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The town was jumping Sunday afternoon with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fqfi.org\/frenchquarterfest\/\">French Quarter Festival<\/a> going on. Tell you what New Orleans knows how to party. There were lots of bands in lots of different places. The place was packed.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/6935906928\/\" title=\"IMG_0250 by alnbbates, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"IMG_0250\" height=\"375\" src=\"http:\/\/yogisden.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/6935906928_9aec4253a1-300x225.jpg\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But people were under control. Apparently I dropped my cell phone. A lady chased after me for two blocks she said until she caught up with me to give it back to me (I move fast when I&#8217;m walking.)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/6935911156\/\" title=\"IMG_0254 by alnbbates, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"IMG_0254\" height=\"375\" src=\"http:\/\/yogisden.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/6935911156_85fe63274f-300x225.jpg\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>People were major chilling to the music.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/6935897002\/\" title=\"IMG_0240 by alnbbates, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"IMG_0240\" height=\"500\" src=\"http:\/\/yogisden.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/6935897002_1fff360608-225x300.jpg\" width=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>New Orleans reminds me a little of the Santa Fe of my youth before the billionaires crowded out the millionaires. Santa Fe has the public party side especially during fiesta (like I know what I&#8217;m talking about, I<br \/>haven&#8217;t been to the fiesta in 35 years) but also a very private side in private courtyards and closed doors.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/7081997575\/\" title=\"IMG_0279 by alnbbates, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"IMG_0279\" height=\"500\" src=\"http:\/\/yogisden.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/7081997575_bdd2c31238-225x300.jpg\" width=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Both New Orleans and Santa Fe give hints of ordinary people who actually live and work there. But an outsider never sees these people.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/7082002155\/\" title=\"IMG_0294 by alnbbates, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"IMG_0294\" height=\"500\" src=\"http:\/\/yogisden.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/7082002155_87cc6db3f2-225x300.jpg\" width=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>New Orleans in the South but it is different from the rest of the South.
