I got there a little early and so checked out the local city park.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/7026442595\/\" title=\"IMG_8286 by alnbbates, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"IMG_8286\" height=\"500\" src=\"http:\/\/yogisden.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/7026442595_967f38250e-225x300.jpg\" width=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In amongst the war memorial and playground was a seemingly friviolous steel structure. It was twisty and turney (that is a word here in Oklahoma) and had Christmas lights on it and several everyday objects.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/6880344102\/\" title=\"IMG_8287 by alnbbates, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"IMG_8287\" height=\"500\" src=\"http:\/\/yogisden.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/6880344102_1cd17ab9a9-225x300.jpg\" width=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It turns out that it is not frivolous at all. It is a memorial to the six people who died in a <b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.roadsideamerica.com\/tip\/6945\">tornado that hit Leedey on May 31, 1947<\/a>.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/6880342144\/\" title=\"IMG_8285 by alnbbates, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"IMG_8285\" height=\"375\" src=\"http:\/\/yogisden.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/6880342144_567f912a62-300x225.jpg\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>What a memorial. Apparently it was built by school children aged seven through eighteen during art classes. I think the monument is a tribute to the kids as well as the victims of the storm.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/7026444515\/\" title=\"IMG_8288 by alnbbates, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"IMG_8288\" height=\"500\" src=\"http:\/\/yogisden.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/7026444515_7a3f38c17a-225x300.jpg\" width=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And guess what there was a geocache hidden right nearby named <b>&#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.geocaching.com\/seek\/cache_details.aspx?guid=2a95b2f3-4acb-41cf-9871-95768b94e309\">Leedey Park<\/a><\/b>&#8221; placed by kbaldeagle and &nbsp;Jeritexas.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/28381904@N06\/6880353390\/\" title=\"IMG_8295 by alnbbates, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"IMG_8295\" height=\"375\" src=\"http:\/\/yogisden.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/6880353390_31c5470728-300x225.jpg\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a><br \/><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">(I actually don&#8217;t think this is the real jail.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Another sight in town is the Jail. It seems pretty secure although they have a little work to do to get it up to standard.
