The Yogi’s went to see the animated movie “Rango” last week.
I don’t really know how to tell you succinctly what the movie is about. It is is set in the dry and dusty west. Johnny Depp plays a newcomer chameleon who goes up against the powers that be. Wikipedia has a pretty good description of the movie.
The movie is marketed toward children but there are lots of references that I don’t think kids would get plus it has some scenes that are kind of scary. SuperPizzaBoy is twelve and I don’t think he cared for it. Toward the end of the movie he leaned over and told Sweetie and I, “I can’t believe this is a kids movie!”
So, he gives it a 1.5 rating out of five. I loved the movie. I give it 3.5 out of five.
Movie ratings are in the eye of the beholder, aren’t they. 😉
Out of the mouths of babes and sucklings? I’ll take SPB’s rating as a guide for a childrens’ film. However, I love cartoon films and I’ll definitely put it on my “to view” list from an adult’s point of view.
Sure wish I had time to go see it. Guess I’ll have to wait for the DVD.
The Mexican accented voice scares me a little bit.
I’ve heard several people say this was a good movie. Only 3.5 out of 5, huh?
Now isn’t that interesting that you liked the movie better than SuperPizzaBoy did! Hmmmm. I wonder who’s going the ratings.
Well, I guess we know now who the grown-up gentleman is in your family, don’t we? What a hoot! I love it! Don’t ever grown up!! Have a safe trip home.

Maybe I’ll just wait until it comes to the $2 movie theater.
Hollywood spends too much time trying to be all things to all people. They take what should be a purely kids movie and try to keep the adults entertained as well. It doesn’t always work.
I’d go on the Depp Factor alone. Thanks, SPB, for the insight!
Thanks to all the reviews I hear – Rango is a no-go.
