I like to go walking around downtown at lunch and check stuff out. I see lots of stuff that I don’t get. For example the First Church of Christ Science on Boulder Avenue. I love the building, it is beautiful and they have not crapped it up with additions or a “Family Life Center” or other trendy additions and checking out their web site they seem to be pretty active. Tulsa’s downtown churches, unlike lots of downtown churches in other cities, actually thrive.
The front of the building is nice. So what I don’t get and maybe one of you can explain to me is…
Why don’t they spend a little more on their signs?
Do you know why?
Perhaps they are trying to give the impression that they still have that common touch? Or maybe the monthly payment on the mortgage is so high, they can’t afford extras like signs? Dunno!
That is a great looking building. The signs are a puzzle for thought.
That beautiful building does deserve classier signs…..but the ones they have served their purpose and caught your eye.
Yeah, pretty cheap looking signs for such a great building!! Can’t help but wonder why?? Whose choice??? Hope your week is going well!!

A replica of the pantheon in Rome, very well done. I wonder if they bought the building and someone else built it?
Signs are kind of tacky.
I would hope they would be looking at a signage upgrade in the near future. However, if the reading room is in a temporary location, then the signage may be appropriate for now. Still, it kind of looks like a going out of business sale.
The architecture is wonderful – I wonder if the dome has significance to their beliefs? The signage is chintzy!
Hmmm…maybe those signs attract attention. If they had really nice signs that matched the building they wouldn’t stand out. It is a very beautiful building, I love architecture that is different.
that’s a good question ..
here’s one for you .. the new mayor is not going to bankroll any additional ‘charter schools’ .. so the group behind them, crying poverty begging for financial support, had made two TV commercials complaining about the mayor’s position which they broadcast at primetime .. i dont understand how you can beg for financial assistance when you’ve spent thousands of dollars on commercials/media .. GAH
