The weather hasn’t been great here in Snowklahoma lately.
We hate to get out because of sights like this:
I hope the occupants are okay. Anybody besides me notice the Bermuda sign? I could do a little Bermuda or Aruba or somewhere right now.
We are tired of television, reading, and facebook so we have been watching who has been showing up at our bird feeders.
I’m not a bird guy but I think this is a junco. To me it kind of looks like a bird guppy. One thing I’ve learned about this meme is that if I’m wrong somebody will provide a gentle correction.
And we all know that this is a male cardinal.
I’ve gotten much attached to his girlfriend though.
A bluejay showed up for a little while. Not long enough to get a decent photo though.
This was the newcomer of the week. I studied on two bird books and a ipod touch app. I think it is a meadowlark. Whether eastern or western I don’t know. He hung out under the front yard feeder for hours. Long enough for me to wonder if it was ok.
Of course this guy always comes running when there is free food. I guess that he has to eat also.

We get those Meadowlarks in the summer and I love their brilliant yellow.
Thanks for sharing the pictures!
Wonderful shots of the birds! The Meadowlark is beautiful. They are disappearing around here due to the loss of farmland. Sad that there is way too much development around here for these kinds of birds to survive. I hope the people in that car are OK. Stay safe and warm!
Poor little birdies. Yes the first was a junco or snowbird. I love them.
We got out briefly yesterday and he wants me to go out today in my jeep…EGAD! We’ll see.
A friend of mine who moved from Oklahoma to Nebraska found it amusing yesterday to be out in the sunshine on a beautiful day while Oklahomans were having what another friend referred to as snowmaggedon
An Arkies Musings
I hope they find enough to eat and survive. You got great shots.
That Meadowlark is something to see!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
It’s very thick snow! I also hope the car passengers were ok.
Cute birds and squirrel…wish they can survive…
Thanks for dropping by…stay warm there 🙂
The birds look so beautiful especially in the snow! I know you must be weary of it though.
Juncos always look so cute – like little furballs.
What adorable visitors! Hope you can get out and about soon.
What terrific captures!! I love all the birds! Wonderful visitors to brighten up those snowy, cold days! Hope you get some relief from the cold soon. My son in Dallas has been snowed in for nearly a week. The university where he works has all but shut down for the past few days! Amazing! Hope you stay warm for the weekend!

Snicker would have scared them all away. He keeps our back yard critter free when possible.
What a great variety of birds. We have meadowlarks, but hey aren’t that pretty and they make a lot of noise. I’d be willing to join you in Bermuda or Aruba. It’s sad when OK has more snow than eastern Colorado. I hope you made it to work okay yesterday.
Yikes, Yogi! This looks a lot like Ontario! I hope you get some warm snow-melting weather soon!
Delightful photos of those cold little birds, wow, so much snow though….
WOW, I have not seen a medowlark here in Iowa in years, glad to see they are somewhere, I remember them being abundant when I was growing up, they always sat on fence posts.
I loved your commentary! I too told Hubs yesterday I was bored. One can only do blogging, TV, Facebook, and reading for awhile. I need sun!
Great pics of birds and weather!
Wonderful photos! I always enjoy Cardinals and the Meadowlark is just so pretty!

We are our own version of the Bermuda Triangle, I think. The sign was fair warning!
Here in Connecticut, we’re done cleaning, rearranging, cooking, reading, crafting, writing, blogging, shoveling, telephone calling, taking cute videos of the dog who can deal with 2′ of snow because he doesn’t sink….
Your birs are great. I am wondering what the blue jay’s girlfriend looks like. Hmm….
Boy, you got some great bird pictures.
I’m not a bird fan, but I think it’s because the only ones I ever see in my yard are black birds.
You have pretty birds!
Great shots of the birds and squirrel! That’s the same view as my neighborhood street. And they say another storm may hit us Tuesday/Wednesday.
All great shots but the cardinal (male) is my favorite.
Great photos!!! The Meadowlark has been to our house too. The kids and I looked up the winter birds here: http://www.birdsofoklahoma.net/
Have you seen Portlandia? “put a bird on it”
