Black and White Wednesday – Tulsa Petroleum Club

Tulsa’s Petroleum Club building. I used the Hipstamatic App with my Ipod Touch to take these pics. So I guess I could say that these are “SOC.” More and more people are using their phones and ipods to take photographs and post them.

The Petroleum Club is just a regular office building now. The Petroleum Club itself that occupied the top several floors went bankrupt several years ago. The energy industry is still going strong but people don’t head to the club after work to drink and socialize. They go to their kids soccer practices and other things like that.

This is my first post on Black and White Wednesday. It probably won’t be my last!

Love your B&W for the day!! Hope you’re having a great week — but then I think you always do and that’s terrific! You do inspire me! Enjoy!!

I have never participated in a B&W meme, but I have been looking for an alternative to Wordless Wednesday and this just might be a good place to start.
Years ago my wife worked for a small petroleum company and her bosses spent a fair amount of time at the Petroleum Club for business lunches and after hours networking. It was kind of like a country club without the golf course and swimming pool.

I think black n white photos are so dramatic. But, I remember how there was a ‘wish’ to have color film and how popular it was when the concept was new…now seems we’re reverting back to black n white.

I still use my zoom lens/camera. But often use my smart phone for photos.

What a very nice picture…and sad the the Petroleum Club is closed. I remember when going to an event at the Petroleum Club was a very special thing.

Interesting shot! I wish I could take better iphone pictures, but I find myself frustrated and just go with my SLR. Have a great day!

It is a great photo. I do love those black and whites.

I am still in Germany but wedding celebrations are now winding down and I was able to get on line for a little while. We will be doing some sight-seeing tomorrow and in a few days we will be on our way home.

I’m a big fan of architecture in black and white. The lines of the building really stand out…which I think leads us closer to the concept of the architect himself. Or herself!! (My dad was an architect! And I’ve been meaning to do more building shots…nice reminder!) And thanks so much for linking up!

Sorry, I can’t rave about this building – I tend to be of the school “a building is a building is a building”. I’m fully aware that’s very controversial but flowers and scenic views and people are my favourite. As you well know Yogi, I always say it how I feel LOL.
