It is time for Ashley Sisk’s Scavenger Hunt Sunday again. Ashley for being a very nice young woman sure provides challenging items for us to go hunt. At least they are challenging for me.
Asian, I really had to did down deep for this. This is a photograph of my great uncle Rollo. My father tells me that in this Photo my uncle is in Manchuria back in the 1930’s. The children are Japanese schoolchildren. Now, I don’t understand all that but there it is. Uncle Rollo was a naval officer who fought in the Pacific in World War II and eventually rose to the rank of Admiral. Next time I visit Dad I’m going to scan a bunch more photographs. He has pre-war photographs of receptions at various officers clubs in the Pacific from Manila to Singapore. The officers are very dashing in their uniforms and their wives are wearing very elegant gowns. Its a way of life that has disappeared I think.
Wavy, what’s wavy, if you were expecting pictures of my wavy hair I’ll just let you know that I don’t have any, hair that is, especially wavy hair. This is a picture of son SuperPizzaBoy on the beach near Carlsbad, California a few years ago.
Draw? How about some chalk art?
Soft, nothing softer than a rose petal is there?
Texture, Sweetie and I went to Eureka Springs, Arkansas a couple years ago for a weekend. One of the sights of Eureka Springs is a statue of Humpty Dumpty on a brick wall. And then I applied a brick wall texture to the photo. That is about as good as it gets in my artistic endeavors.
That’s it for this week’s roundup.
I particularly love your first photograph – what a fascinating ancestor to have. Look forward to seeing more of your family.
I haven’t participated in a couple of weeks. I was actually going to draw something, but I just never got it done. I really like the take on texture. Love the old photos, and you’re right, that is a lifestyle that has come and gone. Have a blessed week-end.
I love this post! The family history in there is great. I hope we’ll see those scans.
Your artist endeavor is admirable. Very cool.
Admiral – very, very impressive. Neat photo and I’m sure you will eventually find an interesting story behind it. I like the Humpty Dumpty statue and your added texture makes it even more intriguing.
How cool and very beautiful photos:) The chalk art is very cool, too.
Very clever on your texture shot!
That mural is so awesome!
Yogi,
My Grandpa was a WWII Hero as well. I have a fascination with the Holocaust and read a lot of novels about that time period. The inner strength it took to survive amazes me.
Your picture edit is very tasteful.
Some of the Chalk and Spray Paint Art you see around is unbelievable.
Your rose is beautiful and the texture picture is very creative.

Love your Humpty Dumpty.
Great set! Love the story behind the first photo and that chalk drawing is incredible!
Great job. The first picture is especially interesting and must have a good story behind it. I love the blue hats.
Well done!
Wonderful family photo for the Asian shot – I like the editing you did as well.
Oh my your Texture shot of Humpty Dumpty is fantastic.
I also liked the Wavy shot, I love the ocean.
The photo scavenger hunt intrigues me, but I am too lazy to take part. Therefore, I admire all the more the wonderful photos you find to illustrate the challenges. The beach is my favorite here, but you did good on the Humpty Dumpty wall!
Always enjoy your commentary just as much as the photos, Yogi! However, I was disappointed to learn on your skywatch post that your terrific office view is no more. You’re just going to have to leave work earlier now and catch the sunset from outside. Snowing and very cold here in Breckenridge. I’m inside looking out.
Great set – especially the Humpty Dumpty. You did great for artistic creativity on that one.
More great interpretations. Love what you did with Humpty. Old family photos are great to digitize, especially before they just disappear.
Love your chalk art. I too have found some of the prompts to be rather challenging! You did a good job with your texture on Humpty… definitely made me look twice.
Love the chalk art for draw – nice find.
Your rose shot is gorgeous!
All wonderful shots for the prompts but that Humpty Dumpty shot really is cool.
Those are great Yogi, and particularly enjoyed the photo of your uncle taken in Manchuria, a wonderful photo.
I really enjoyed all your photos for this weeks hunt. What a treasure that first shot is. And I see that we had the same idea for wavy.. I just love the ocean..

I particularly like your “artistic endeavors”!!!
I always enjoy your creative take on the scavenger hunts, Yogi. I found this week’s prompts a challenge too and it definitely made me think “outside the box.” You escaped the box magnificently.
well done
