My favorite cross in Tulsa is this one at the Church of Saint Mary near Henthorne Park. SuperPizzaBoy attends an improv workshop at the park so while he is doing that I wander around the park and the nearby neighborhood with my camera.
The cross is constructed of concrete (an engineered material) and I just love its presence and strength. The black and white seems to accentuate it’s solidity.
The church is a Catholic Church and I’m not but that’s okay because we both love God and I hope they don’t mind me borrowing their cross from time to time.
“May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which[a the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.”
Galatians 6:14 (NIV)
Check out my friend Baloney’s Perfect Pairings.
Do you think Catholic’s and Protestants can share a cross? What about Democrats and Republicans?
I’ll go with the more tradition ones. Make with stone or iron and a bit thinner.
Very unusual.
I love that cross!
Great verse too.
I thought I was going to be the odd one out yet again in preferring a cross to be a cross as I know it but it seems Birdman and I think alike (great minds Birdmsn):-)
That is amazing!
Excellent!
@Leedslass – I expect nothing else but your honest opinion!!
Thanks for pairing up Yogi! Good idea to wander around and take pics. I haven’t left Michael there alone yet.
Nice photo! It’s hardly the old ‘rugged’ cross, but a nice, modern rendition. I love the cross for what it signifies…a constant reminder to me of what the Lord did for me. I’m always amazed by that! Have a good week ahead.
ps- Catholics & Protestants: sure. Dems and Republicans: wouldn’t that be nice?!
Excellent image.
Beautiful!
