Good old Crepe Myrtle. It can live through the hottest summers and still blooms all season.

Every time I see a crepe myrtle I feel jealous. 🙂

Crepe Myrtle is one of my favorite shrubs for exactly the reasons that Bill mentioned.
They are also fast growing and turn in to very nice ornamental trees in a very few years. Love ’em.

We had several Crepe Myrtles at our previous home. I was just telling my husband that I want to plant a few here next year.
