A couple weeks ago we visited my wife’s “old home place” the ranch. A cousin of Sweetie’s is running cattle (as we say in Oklahoma) out on the ranch under the 3G brand.
Of course, I take all my cameras with me including my ultra low tech cheapie toy Diana Mini Lomographic analog film camera that can shoot half frames, to take the cheapie concept one step futher.
The thing about cows ( and you can write on the back of a postage stamp what I know about cows, and most of that would be wrong) is that they always show up if people show up.
That is it for the Lomographic Photographs, the rest are digital.
They have a couple of rescue donkeys. Here is Kim, the faithful girlfriend, feeding Juliet, one of the sweetest donkeys, you’ll ever meet. Kim showed up at her boyfriend’s family reunion and fit right in. Kim was styling with the hat and the cowboy (cowgirl?) boots. She was a good sport.
It was well over 100F that day, so SuperPizzaBoy hung out in the four wheeler with his uncle Glenn.
Sweetie was in her element. She loves all critters, except snakes. I can tell you that if you are snake, you would be wise to steer clear of Sweetie. Cows, kittens, babies, and puppies, Sweetie is the best friend that you will ever have.
This is Tyler, Kim’s boyfriend. He is a Marine artillery officer. When things get hot, you want to be where Tyler is, you don’t want to be down range.
Wesley, Tyler’s younger brother. An extremely nice young man.
There is Sweetie, taking charge, making sure that everybody has enough to eat. It’s the Mom’s of the world that keep things going if you ask me.
Yeah, well, more of the same. Sweetie is number one among the 3G herd.
Who’s number one in your herd?
thanks for sharing these lovely photos!
i really enjoyed looking at them.
i wish i were there!
happy weekend!
betty
p.s. i wish i had a herd of cows like yours.
Ya, because people= food! Next question… hahahaha!
Such gorgeous critters!
Lovely photos, the camera takes wonderful photos. Or is it the photographer that takes the good photos? Either way you did a great job. I like the cows and the donkeys, they are cute critters.
I really enjoyed seeing these pictures. They remind me of my grandfather and his brother who were both cattle ranchers here is Florida. My grandfather used that same expression “running cattle” too, so I guess it might not be just an Oklahoma thing!
Two things:
1. Some of those Lomo shots are amazing. Love them!
2. Sweetie and I could be sisters.
Honestly, I want you guys to adopt me! I love the things you all do..all the sights you get to see! SO SO awesome…
Can I just say–Sweetie is GORGEOUS!!!
Your wife is the bomb! These are great pix.
So Lomography is being on the bleeding edge of photography utilizing obsolete equipment, right? Sounds very cool, keep it up.
As for your family, you are blessed with the best. Parents, grandparents, uncles, cousins, etc. Still connected to the land, raising cattle and other assorted livestock for the more urban members of the family to enjoy and appreciate. Fun defined as hanging out with an assortment of people you may or may not be related to while feeding both four legged and two legged animals. Sounds like fun to me. Happy family time.
Who’s No. 1 in my family is an easy question to answer – ME – as I’m the matriarch.
I’ve never known any cattle but think I might be a little apprehensive in their company.
Years ago my grans place had cattles, we were so excited when we had to take the to the fields but they were killed by soldiers during mad cow high.
@Leedslass – you made me laugh. I bet you are the matriarch!
I think you just called Sweetie a cow in that last line? That might get you in trouble.
#1 in our herd? I’m beginning to think it’s Cutie Moody.
I think Baloney might be right about that last line. Hmmmm….I’m thinking you might be in big trouble. Hmmmm….I’m thinking you might want to go out and buy someone a present? Maybe flowers? A nice card?
Sweetie does appear to be very happy at the ranch. If she likes all animals except snakes, she sounds very sweet indeed.
Sweetie is quite the cowgirl!
The donkeys look very cute. I’d make friends with them.
Everyone is such hard workers going out there in 100 degree weather, but I guess the animals got to eat. Those donkey’s are cute and friendly eating right out of Kim’s hand. I think our dog runs the household here. He barks orders at us to feed him or take him for walks.
The pastures there look as brown as ours. I’m sure the critters appreciated a meal. I think you all could make a wild cow milking team!
I want Kim’s outfit. She’s sportin’ the short shorts, boots and a cool hat. She’s awesome!
SPB looks hot. Get him inside!!!! Poor thing.
Sweetie fits right in! She doesn’t even look scared! I think I would be a little bit.
I’m #1 in my herd.
Beautiful place for taking photos.
Regards!
