Don Quixote

Sweetie and I went to the ballet Saturday night. I scored some tickets to Don Quixote by the Tulsa Ballet. The plan was to get a sitter for the boy and then Sweetie and I would have dinner and go to the Ballet.

You see, our 19th Anniversary was last week but we had some civic duties to perform. At least she did, I was support. So I thought that we would have a late celebration.

The babysitter was supposed to show up at 6 pm. At 6:10 Sweetie called her friend Karen. Help! We packed SuperPizzaBoy up and dropped him off. He was happy because he would be with his friend “N.” Not too happy once he found out the family was going to dust Saturday night. Oh well.

For dinner, Sweetie and I had some of SPB’s pizza. Hey the baby sitter not showing up saved us a lot of money.

The Ballet was great. I’ve seen a little bit of ballet, especially when we lived in Oklahoma City, but I don’t know the first thing about it. So to poor old hick son of Forest Ranger me a ballet is great if I enjoyed it. I enjoyed this one. It was over before I knew it.

The music was great (at least it was live), the costuming was very colorful, the set was great. The emaciated long necked women dancers (“elnwds”) danced gracefully. The lead ballerina especially was probably the best I’ve ever seen. She stole the show in my opinion. She is the Michael Jordan of Tulsa Ballet! The underfed but muscled up male dancers did their best lifting the elnwds effortlessly and doing what few moves they were assigned.

We really enjoyed it. We left a little early to pick up SPB. He was very tired.

I’m determined to take Sweetie out to dinner to celebrate our 19th! The force is trying to prevent us.
