Boys Night Out – April Edition

Lets see, last Tuesday in April, that means that Sweetie is heading off to her monthly Book Coven Club and SuperPizzaBoy and I have our monthly Boys Night Out.

It’s a school night so we can’t stay out too long. SPB had a pizza party with some of his buds so we aren’t going to eat anywhere. “What do you want to do SPB?” “Lets go plant a cache Dad.” The little dude doesn’t have to tell me twice. We keep the makings on hand.

Here is before:

Isn’t camo duct tape wonderful. Mother’s Day is coming soon!! In case you are looking for an idea. Camo duct tape is an example of a bad idea.

So we loaded up and headed off for downtown to a spot I’ve scoped out before. It was going to be the site of our new library until my fellow citizens voted down the bond issue. So SPB and I are using it for its highest and best use: Geocaching.

SPB is in charge of cache security, video game playing, and camera mugging.

Here is the final hide. Do you see the cache container?

No? Good!

Celebrate a successful placement with ice cream for me and a milkshake for SPB.

More camera mugging

(A rare Yogi smile with teeth. SPB wouldn’t give me the camera back until he saw teeth.)

And then we finish up at the bookstore. Another BNO tradition, I buy any book he wants (no videogame cheat books!!)  Little guy loves to read.

It’s dark, it’s late, its a school night, and it’s time to go home.

I filled out the cache application. Maybe it’ll be approved today!! SPB and I have now hid 28 geocaches.

Looking forward to May’s edition of Boys Night Out.

That is such a cool way to spend time with your son. I never went anywhere or did anything with my dad. He was too tired (unless one of his lodge buddies called.) So I know how geat it is for him to have a dad who cares.

  2. Sunny

You have the best BNO, and what wonderful memories your son will have to look back on.
SPB is very lucky to have such a fun and caring Dad.
    Sunny 🙂

@Coffeypot – It was a different era back then. Dad worked on the house and car all the time. Kids were expected to entertain themselves. And we did. In ways that were not all that great.

@Sunny – Thanks. We’ll see. Sometimes I think he just wants to go to videogame world.

@Lois – so do you want some camo tape for Mother’s Day?

  4. Dawn

Okay, I could NOT see the geocache you hid!! Amazing!

What a fun night out. I cracked up when you said you don’t buy him any cheat books. Courtney always wants those too. However, she’s happy when I buy her any book. She loves reading also.

And, that is a GREAT picture SPB took of you. Really.

I love all the pictures you got of him.

@Jenn – Reading is a great lifelong habit that will dividends over the years. Video game playing on the other hand?

@Dawn – Son really likes to take pictures now. We need to get him a camera of his own.

  6. Beth

New follower found you via Dawn’s shout out! 🙂 Love your humor. Never tried geo-caching. Have definitely tried Braums! 🙂

  7. Jeff Shaw

Yogi, that milkshake looks like beef stroganoff! 🙂

Anyway, what a great Dad you are.

My kid tries to pull that video cheat game book too. But no avail.

I need some Braums all of a sudden.

@Beth – thank you. That Dawn is wonderful she is always so encouraging and a great commenter. I’ve learned a lot from her.

@Jeff – You are right, it does look like beef stroganoff. It’s actually their chocolate mix with heath bars. I’m addicted to them.

  9. Baloney

That SPB is a real jokester for the camera. Cute!
Do you want your camo wrapped container you gave me? I’d be happy to return it for your May Boys Night Out.

I even tried to enlarge that cache drop location so I could see it better but too no avail – Flikr wouldn’t enlarge it. (I wanted a little head start…) I’m hoping my sons haven’t seen the camo duct tape! SPB is getting good with the camera!
