A mysterious bright orangish yellowy globe appeared the other day on the eastern horizon and got higher and higher and dropped below the western horizon at the end of the day. Some of the old timers around recall something similar back in the day. You wouldn’t happen to know what is would you?
Cool, is it a reflection of the sun? Great capture! Happy skywatching and have a great weekend!
It heard stories, from my dad, about this kind off thing happening almost daily…long, long ago.
What a great shot and such colorful skies!! Wow! I love it!!
Wow, great shot.
What a beautiful picture! This is just a guess, but it may have been the sun.
How cool – great shot!
A great photo. I do not know what makes this effect!
And, congratulation to your one year celebration of hosting “Sky Watch Friday”!
In the olden days I’m sure someone would have been adamant that this was a UFO.
Back when we lived in Oregon, something like this would occasionally appear in the winter sky. It always scared the natives who didn’t know what to do with their umbrellas.
fantastic photo,Yogi!Have a great weekend!
That’s a stunning shot!
Gosh, so that’s where it is! It went missing from the UK in, oh, about 2004!!!!! Could we have it back please?!
Wonderful photo! Happy Valentine’s Day:-)
Magic
Yes we are begining to ask the same question here in the uk, great pic though.
I have now added a Skywatch link to my blog.
All the best Gordon.
How interesting. I’ve never come across one. XD
I have not seen anything like this before, it’s quite interesting. Did you figure out what causes this and what it is called? I would really like to know. Very cool picture!
I LOVE this…so glad the temps are up and the sky is so BEAUTIFUL!
I want one just like it!
I’ve heard of this….We had a similar experience after it got dark out. Folks around here are so cold stunned they can’t recall what the old-timers call this phenomenon.
Cool shot! Looks like lens flare to me.
