Earlier this week we had some more threatening weather. It was more threat than anything else and I waited until the clouds passed and the wind died down and launched my drone.
I am still in periscope mode where I send it straight up over the back yard and then rotate it. No fancy flying or maneuvers yet.
I haven’t crashed it or run into trees or power lines yet. A couple of the blades are a little worn for some reason. You can tell by the pitch of the motors plus I get a warning to land it immediately.
It got too windy so I landed and took this photo with my phone.
I hope everybody is doing well. I’ve been working from home for two months now. Tomorrow, Friday, is my last day “at work.” I am retiring after 43 years. I’ve enjoyed the energy business and I liked the people that I work with but its now off to new challenges!! I’ll have plenty to do.
I am linking with Skywatch Friday.
…I retired after 50 years, it was the best thing that I ever did! Well almost the best.
I retired after 40 years, and almost went crazy. However, I had a very clean house. Had to stay busy till I got used to not working. Enjoy!
Your drone shots are amazing! Beautiful skies especially if there’s no tornadoes associated with them.
Congratulations on your retirement ~ must be a bit anti climatic after having all this time off ~ Great sky shots and know you will enjoy your retirement ~ best wishes to you ^_^ ~

I love the drone photos of the dramatic sky. Enjoy and keep safe.
Wow, wow, and MORE wow!! Extraordinary.
Those skies from the drone look like they go on forever! Pretty impressive that you haven’t had any crashes yet.
Awesome skies.
Retirement? Cool! Plenty of time to do what ever pleases you. Maybe learn some flying ace maneuvers. Or ehat ever. Keep Safe!
Amazing skies.
Best wishes.
Stay well.
Alan – nice photos, especially since they didn’t develop into anything damaging!
Congratulations on your retirement. I am sure you are going to enjoy it as much as I do!
Beautiful sky shots from your drone and your phone. We are having a mixture of warm weather and heavy rain. I retired in 2014 after working for 38 years, 2 years in the private sector and 36 years in the public works department. Wishing you happy retirement.
Hello,
Beautiful skies and captures from your drone. Congrats on your retirement. I have been retired since Dec 2014, it feels like yesterday. Enjoy your retirement, it was the best decision I ever made. Thanks for hosting Skywatch! Happy Friday, enjoy your weekend!
Beautiful skies. We got snow Saturday and now today it’s supposed to be 80 and we will be under a tornado watch. Gotta love upstate New York but I remember your severe weather from my years of living in Wichita, Wichita Falls (TX) and Northwest Arkansas. Happy retirement to you. I retired April 17 (date planned before the pandemic) and have been working three days a week from home since because – well, because. Hoping both of us can enjoy our retirements!
Wow, I am loving these drone captures!
Amazing cloud formations!!
Those clouds look so beautiful Alan! The second photo gives a lot of drama with the darker clouds yet still orange skies! Love it!
Great shots! Congratulations on your retirement! Adventure calls.
wow, all the best in your new sequence in life.
The last photograph taken by your phone was my favorite. On no, the drone was telling you to land. I hope you can fix it easily.
We wouldn’t mind if you sent a few of those clouds over here.
So do you have to charge the batteries often? The one my other half had didn’t have a camera on it but I have seen others like yours that do – quite handy having that.
Ready to retie? In that case, congrats! If not, you can maybe find a little job? We don’t know what mvement you make to get these skies, but the results are awesome images! Thanks for visiting me! Jesh
