Skywatch Friday – Tulsa for Tesla Edition

Tulsa Driller Tesla 02-adjust

Tulsa has been buzzing since word came out that Tesla, the electric car manufacturer is considering either Tulsa or Austin, Texas as the site for its Cybertruck manufacturing plant. Our city fathers have jumped into high gear to try to land the plant, including painting a Tesla logo tshirt on the Golden Driller at the fairgrounds.

It would be a boon for the city. I’m good with it even though I know that in this day and age its pretty much a shakedown to get the local and state governments to put up as much free infrastructure, deferred taxes, training and other expenses as possible. That’s the world we live in though.

Even if we don’t get it, its been a lot of fun. Above is a short video put together by local Tesla drivers convoying their cars through various Tulsa landmarks.

How is your week going?

So that explains why the Driller’s clothes have changed color on your photo! I’ve seen this guy a few times before on photos and I really hope you guys get Tesla 🙂

…I hope that Tesla doesn’t bomb like it put in Buffalo, NY! Thanks for hostiing.

Yet another loss for California. I like the shot of the Golden Driller. It would be cool if someone put a face mask on him!

Same situation here when Amazon was looking for a place for their second headquarter. There was a lot of buzz on trying to get them either in Virginia or Maryland. Virginia got it.

I hope they pick Tulsa and you’re right, it’s going to be whoever offers the most incentives. It sure would be great for your economy.

That’s one big statue! Going good here except i can’t getout today as it’s bucketing down with rain but it’s a perfect day for hibernating.

I like the big statue. It’s the first time I’ve seen it. It’s exciting whenever a huge company wants to set up shop in your town. I hope Tulsa gets Tesla 😉

    Hello,
Great sky capture, I like the statue. Best of luck to Tulsa, I hope they get the plant there.
I think our country would do great with more “green” companies, companies that solar panels and electric cars. Thanks for hosting! Enjoy your day, have a happy weekend!

I read about Austin being a possible location, didn’t know about Tulsa. Even if either city is chosen as THE site, there’s always a chance of the company dropping out & going somewhere else.

PS…love Grisham. My favorite yet to this day is The Client.

Gorgeous skies, cool statue . Good luck to Tulsa, but yeah you are of course right on the incentive deal. A couple of bad deals here in our fair city over the years. Big tax incentives, not as much hiring, and then the plants closed and stood empty for a long time. (These were tech companies during those boom years.). Keep us posted……also, thank you for hosting SWF.
