We got back from Idaho on Sunday for a family reunion and visit with my Dad. I was planning on do some geocaching but I got sidetracked scanning old family photographs. I can actually say it was more fun than geocaching. (Although I did get a couple of those.)
Many of the photographs I had never seen before, like this one:
Early 1960’s near Payson, Arizona. Me, Brother, Sister, Mom. Dad was the photographer. Isn’t that just so early 1960’s. I love the Coors box. I love brother Bob’s bandanna and hat. Where’s mine?
I also love this one:
This is my Mother in northern Idaho before she was married. Isn’t she the perfect Forest Ranger’s wife? I love the rolled up cuffs and the shoes. She wasn’t posing or anything was she? You think?
Here is Mom and Dad with brother Bob in Missoula, Montana.
I found, what is now my favorite photograph of her of all time in her favorite outfit.
She has that look that she got when she was about to engage in her favorite sport of poking Republicans in the eye, including sometimes her pompous middle child.
Hey, go see your folks if they are still around and raid their photo albums. Its fun. Get the stories.
Oh I love these photo’s especially the first one. That might be awesome to sketch.
Totally meant the 2nd one.
It is fun finding those old photos, isn’t it? I was going through a box of mine as well recently! I love these and they are sooooo 60s aren’t they? Thanks for sharing! Enjoy your day!
Sylvia
I think we had a car like that one in the first picture when I was growing up!
I love looking at old photos. Unfortunately, I don’t have near as many of my folks as I would like.
Your mom looks like a good sport, even if she was looking a bit askance at that rowboat.
Cute family pics.
Old photos always brings back memories. Thanks for sharing. While you were in Idaho, I was in New Orleans. Would have traded you places!!!!!!
How fun! I love looking at old photos even though I don’t know the people in it. I bet you had a great time reminiscing.
What a wonderful way to spend a day or two, I loved the first two the best, yes you are right, SO 60’s.
Oh you found some family treasure and I bet more to Sweetie’s liking as well!
I’m the matriarch of the family and you’re so right – ask family history questions NOW whilst those of my generation still have a memory and are around. When Sharon last came “home” to see me I asked if she had any questions about the “olden days” and, of course, she couldn’t think of a single one. I bet, within days of me being around no more, hundreds will pop into her mind!
Wonderful photos. I’ve been through my parents collection and there are a few gems of them. There are not many photos of us as a young family. Mom and dad were just not photographers.
Oh my gracious, so beautiful. I love vintage photos and your have a great collection.
It’s a great idea to scan old family pictures. Fascinating, but different than geocatching of course 😉
I love, love, love old photographs. There’s always so much to study, explore. They’re like their own stories wrapped up in one still shot. Thanks for sharing these.
Get the photos when someone can identify the people in them and most important, get the stories.
