I got a call a few minutes ago from a representative of Old Republic Home Protection Company. Apparently they tried emailing me a couple times about the issue described below and unfortunately their messages ended up in the spam directory of my email account. So I am very embarrassed about that.
Anyway they have offered to make the situation right and rectify things and I am very grateful for that. So I’ll keep everybody posted on how things go.
I might just have to retire the BIH award. I didn’t really like it anyway. I’m hopeful that this situation works out.
Great award! I’m sure there are many deserving recipients. My nephew in the D.C. area had a similar experience with a home protection plan. They covered nothing that went wrong and their techs charged exorbitant rates.
Even from reputable companies extended warranties are very seldom worth paying for. This according to Consumer Reports.
I’m happy to share the poop hat if it is needed.
Great job Yogi. I hope you have their attention.
@Janie – Thanks. I’m afraid that the home warranty industry has some problems. I don’t know anybody that has a good experience with one.
@Tulsa Gentleman – I think that Consumer Reports is right. They are pushed awful hard though.
@Randall – I think they have pretty tough hides. I don’t think they care.
I’ve heard many stories of companys and incividuals that prey on the elderly and other trusting souls. I can never understand how such people can live with themselves. This is a good award and useful information for others.
I did look the company up on the BBB site and was surprised that they have an A+ rating. Although the do have many complaints against them they evidently value the rating and resolve disputes that are submitted to the BBB.
All – Old Republic has contacted me and is trying to work the situation out. I’m very glad.
