I went hiking with a friend on Friday, we came upon this family of deer. My friend is kind of a speed hiker so I didn’t even take time to move myself so the one deer occluded by the tree was free. Oh well.
Various native pollinators have really been at work on my wife’s pink hibiscus shrub in the back yard.
And squirrels, boy do have squirrels. Most of them ignore the habanero flavored bird food but interestingly there are a few that love it.
Lizzie the cat loves to nap but when I get close to get a shot of her napping she always wakes up.

What a lovely post. Everything I love, deer, pollinators and especially the birds. We recently saw a family of deer too. Surprisingly on the grounds of a local University. Two small fawns and their mother in a very small, wooded section surrounded by parking lots and roads. PS We also have a lovely cat.
It looks like those deer might still have felt on their antlers. Fun birds photos this week too. You see a LOT!
Speed hiking takes a lot of the fun away I think. You may as well just speed walk around a track! I wouldn’t mind a few squirrels, but there are none at my end of town. Then again, the dog has never seen them, and might bark too much!
wow that’s one fat squirrel. Im’ not a speed hiker either, my knees hurt going uphill anyway.

I like them! The deer are a hoot.
I have killed some hibiscus, and I’m working on killing my hanging planters. Over fertilized, methinks. sigh.
